How often should we practice speech sounds at home? đź’¬
Many parents worry about doing too little or pushing their child too hard. The goal is not long practice sessions. Short, consistent practice, about 5 to 10 minutes a day, is often more effective than one long session once or twice a week. These brief repetitions help the brain and mouth learn new sound patterns without feeling stressful or exhausting.
The key is making practice part of everyday life. Try working on sounds during car rides, bath time, or snack time. When practice is predictable and low pressure, families are more likely to stick with it, and children carry new speech patterns into real conversation more quickly and confidently.
