A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:
As my term as PTA President comes to a close at the end of this month, I’m especially grateful for the incredible members of our Executive Board, whose dedication, creativity, and tireless work made this year one of the most impactful yet. Together, we introduced several first-ever events to Ladera Ranch Elementary—including a dazzling Gala fundraiser, a vibrant Global Fair, a festive Holiday Shop, and our very own production of Matilda the Musical, a huge endeavor that brought the arts to center stage. We also proudly completed the purchase of a beautiful new digital marquee, a lasting gift that will keep our community connected for years to come. These accomplishments were only possible because of the passionate leadership and collaboration of this exceptional board. It has been a true honor to work alongside each of you, and I leave this role filled with gratitude and admiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Lauren Manning, Bianca Jund, Lauren Morales, Shawna Shahparnia, Kristina Hill, Kylene Sherer, Santoshi Patel, Allie Baca, Natalie Wilson, Natalia Palda, Michael Mannino, Kaitlin King, Jen Donelson, and Rachel Bickford. I wish our new President, Rachel, and 2025-26 Executive Board all the best next year—I know they will continue the proud tradition of service that defines our PTA.

At our final PTA Association Meeting for 2024-25, we proudly honored several incredible volunteers with PTA Honorary Service Awards in recognition of their dedication and lasting impact on our school community.

🏅 California State PTA Service Awards were presented to:
Deena Aeron - An Honorary Service Award for continuing to give her time and talents to LRES PTA (even though her children are no longer at the school!)
Jen Whaley - A Continuing Service Award for her years of commitment to the talent show and for taking on the production of Matilda this year.
Lauren Manning - A Continuing Service Award for her many years of service on the PTA Board, willingness to jump in wherever needed, and strong leadership as a room parent.
Joya Celik - A Continuing Service Award for her dedicated service on the PTA Board, her years of support in the classroom, and her remarkable volunteer efforts throughout the wider community.

🌟 Golden Oak Service Award – the highest honor a PTA unit can bestow – was awarded to:
Kim Diaz, who has spent over a decade enriching the LRES experience. From serving as PTA President to bringing beloved events like the haunted house, dances and game nights to life, Kim has left a legacy of leadership and school spirit.

We are so grateful to these volunteers for their years of service and the joy, energy, and heart they have brought to LRES. Thank you for making a lasting difference!

Our 4th Graders wrapped up the school year with a rootin’-tootin’ Gold Rush celebration this week! Dressed in their best Western duds, students spent the morning making “Wanted” posters, sipping ice cream floats at the Saloon, flipping flapjacks, taking turns at the barbershop, playing poker, panning for gold, and fishing for treasure. Not even the wild weather could rain on their parade!

Huge thanks to Mr. Navarro, Ms. Nikolaou, Mrs. Stewart, and all the parent volunteers for making it a day to remember! Yeehaw!

What a day! Our 5th Grade Carnival was a huge hit, thanks to the creativity and leadership of our graduating students. They planned and ran over a dozen stations filled with games, activities, treats, and a prize booth that had the whole school buzzing with excitement. It was an unforgettable experience for the younger grades, and our 5th graders truly rose to the occasion. A big shoutout to Mrs. Emery, Mrs. Henriks, Mrs. Platt, Mr. Wilson, and all the amazing parent volunteers who helped bring the fun to life. Go Lions!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: MAY - With heartfelt thanks, we recognize Mandy Mannino as our Volunteer of the Month for her incredible support during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Mandy was a behind-the-scenes powerhouse—thoughtful, organized, and always willing to jump in wherever help was needed.

From coordinating donations to assembling treats and decorating spaces with care, Mandy brought creativity, warmth, and a true spirit of gratitude to every task. Her attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile helped make the week feel genuinely special for every staff member on campus.

We are so grateful for Mandy’s dedication and joyful energy, and we couldn’t have done it without her!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: APRIL - With great appreciation, we recognize Nicole Shafer for her incredible contributions to two of our biggest spring events—Lions and Lassos Family Fun Night and Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Nicole brought creativity and a can-do attitude that made both celebrations truly memorable for our school community.

From wrangling western-themed decorations and crafts to ensuring our teachers felt loved and celebrated all week long, Nicole stepped up with unwavering dedication and attention to detail. She always has a cheerful attitude and is ready to pitch in and make things run smoothly.

LRES is lucky to have her! Thank you, Nicole, for the energy, time, and care you’ve given to make these events such a success.
