🌿 1st Conference Reflections 🌿

Today, I stepped out of my comfort zone and gave my first conference presentation alongside my amazing TTG clinical director, Kathryn, to talk about somatics. We were invited by Chris at Victory Recovery Center to present at their 10th annual conference, alongside a few other incredible speakers to bring therapists together for learning and connection. We also have our 10hr CEU on somatic presence in therapy coming up in July. Link in ‘s bio!

I’m passionate about the topics I shared. I don’t consider myself a master presenter and I was really nervous, but I am someone who believes in doing meaningful work and staying open to growth.

A huge thank you to Kathryn for gently nudging me to say yes to this. And thank you to Chris for the thoughtful invite — and the sweetest handmade birdhouse as a thank-you gift. It’s such a lovely reminder of this experience and the care behind it all.

I don’t know how many more of these I’ll do in the future… but today, I’m just grateful. For the opportunity, the support, and the courage to try something new.

Update! I am now a Louisiana LPC board approved supervisor for PLPCs 🤯 I’m still beside myself that I get the privilege to connect with new PLPCs and offer them support as they start their professional journey 🤗 My relationship with my supervisor was such a meaningful and integral part of my development, and I can’t wait to extend that forward. ✨ If you’re looking for a supervisor with experience in complex trauma, somatics, Polyvagal theory, play therapy, inpatient care, ACT, interpersonal neurobiology, synergetic play, or humanistic focus, then I may be able to help! 🤓 Reach out to me if you’re interesting in having an interview to see if we’d be a good fit! 🌳 Backyard sessions at TTG 🍃 we have access to our backyard for walk & talk sessions, outdoor seated sessions, and incorporating somatics & eco-therapy into our therapeutic process. 🌻 I’ve attended several trainings on intro to Ecotherapy here at TTG that have cultivated a passion for incorporating nature into sessions. ☀️ In our sessions, sometimes the earth simply holds space for us to do talk therapy, offers nervous system regulation during sessions, and other times we use our access to the earth to foster deeper mindfulness practices, deeper connection to the reciprocal relationship to the earth, and used to help provide tools for coexisting with complex and difficult experiences. There are many mental health benefits to eco-therapy that we use in sessions. 🦋what are some ways you notice you might already be connecting with nature? And what impact do you notice it’s having on your nervous system?

Upcoming and Recent 2024 trainings! I set a goal this year to increase my knowledge and embodiment of trauma informed and somatic informed psychotherapy, and I’ve been so excited about out what I’ve taken so far and the year’s line up.

I’m SO EXCITED 😆 to be taking MBSR program developed at the Stress Reduction Clinic at UMass Medical Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn. AND the incredibly admired (by me) DEB DANA’s Polyvagal theory course! I am GEEKING OUT with excitement for this one! I will also be taking & ‘s Dissociation training this summer. I’m so stoked to have all these things to better meet my goals and help my clients with stress, trauma, dissociation, and embodiment.

I will also be taking the plunge into the supervisor class to start a new chapter of my career. More details to come towards my hopes of an LPC-S credential in the near future 🤞🏼🤞🏼 I’m passionate about helping new members of the counseling community have support like I was given; emphasizing ethics AND authenticity 🫶🏼

’s peri trauma training was so helpful for understanding & helping with ongoing trauma. So was ‘s childhood sexual behaviors training to understanding development and impact / warning signs / and intervention for trauma.
