Meet Syem Barakzai, MD, a gynecologic oncologist at Ochsner Lafayette General who provides expert care for women facing cancers of the reproductive system through surgery, chemotherapy and advanced targeted therapies. 🎗️💜

Dr. Barakzai finds the most rewarding part of his work to be offering patients hope during one of the most difficult times in their lives and guiding them with compassion throughout their treatment journey. Inspired by his parents’ sacrifices and motivated by his own family, he is committed to making a lasting difference for the patients of Acadiana.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Barakzai’s passions are as diverse as his expertise. He enjoys learning languages (currently studying Greek and hoping to pick up Cajun French), playing guitar, cooking Pakistani and Cajun cuisine, practicing martial arts, and exploring history through books and documentaries. 🎶🥘📚 Above all, he values time with his wife and two kids, whether sharing meals, traveling or simply being together at home.
