People should be aware of their risk factors for lung cancer and should get screened if they are older than the age recommended by their doctor. Smoking, exposure to secondhand smoke, environmental toxins, and a family history of lung cancer are all risk factors that could indicate a need for a screening. Screening tests like low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) can help detect early signs of lung cancer, enabling early diagnosis and treatment.

Some other symptoms to look out for include:

Today is and we’re doing our part to raise awareness for this rare disease.

Did you know that GIST is a rare form of cancer related to the gastrointestinal tract? It can often go unnoticed, and early diagnosis is key to successful treatment. Our cancer research organization is committed to raising awareness about GIST and the need for more resources and better treatments.

The most common signs and symptoms of GIST include abdominal pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Less common symptoms could include blood in the stool or the stool becoming dark and tarry in color. In some cases, GIST can cause a hernia or feeling of fullness in the abdomen. It is important to be aware of these symptoms and contact your doctor if any are present.
