As the federal shutdown continues, we’re hearing growing concern from families, businesses, schools, and community partners about the impact on SNAP benefits.

United Way of Greater Chattanooga and the 211 Helpline convened more than 100 partners across nonprofit, faith, business, and government sectors this week to coordinate immediate support.

They’ve created a central resource hub to help you and your network stay informed, get help, and give help:

Check out some of our recipes that are not only quick and easy but can feed a family of 4 for less than $10.
Many of these recipes include staple foods that families receive from food banks, bulk products and shelf stable items.
🍜
A favorite for many is the Creamy Chicken and Noodles, made with Ramen noodles, evaporated skim milk, canned chicken and veggies serves a family of 4 for only $6.78! And it tastes like Chicken Pot Pie without the hassle of making a pie crust!

September 11, 2025
Today, we honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the bravery of the first responders who ran toward danger.

As we reflect on that day, let us also remember what we are capable of when we stand united — as neighbors, as a community, and as a nation. In times of uncertainty, togetherness is our greatest strength.

We Are EFNEP

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is funded by the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture and is offered nationwide. The program’s mission is to improve the nutritional health of vulnerable populations. EFNEP fulfills this purpose by bringing together federal, state, and local resources and utilizing the vast grassroots infrastructure of Cooperative Extension within the Land-Grant University System. In Georgia, EFNEP is offered through the University of Georgia and Fort Valley State University. EFNEP educators are members of the communities they serve, as research has proven their superior abilities to relate to and communicate with participants. EFNEP focuses on four core areas - diet quality and physical activity, food resource management, household food safety, and food security - to help families achieve nutritionally sound diets.
