What makes a great health care organization?
Our CEO, Rich D'Amaro, offered his thoughts after meeting with our senior leadership team: "Leadership isn't a position, it's a responsibility to unlock potential in others."
He left that meeting energized by leaders who aren't waiting for permission—they're stepping up, embracing challenges, and bringing others along on the journey.
"Great organizations don't just happen. They're built by people who care deeply, who see beyond today's challenges to tomorrow's possibilities."
This is the spirit that drives our mission every day: serving patients through clinical excellence and operational wisdom, while empowering every team member to reach their full potential.

The future of health care isn't about surviving—it's about thriving through strategic transformation.
Our recent Becker's webinar revealed how leading health systems are shifting from reactive crisis management to proactive long-term planning. From innovative staffing solutions to technology partnerships that reduce costs while improving care, these leaders are writing the playbook for sustainable health care.
Key takeaway: The most successful health systems aren't just managing change—they're creating it through strategic partnerships, innovative service delivery, and technology that puts clinicians back at the bedside where they belong.
The path forward requires bold thinking, creative solutions, and partners who understand that clinical excellence and operational efficiency aren't competing priorities—they're complementary goals.
Recently, 20 of our amazing volunteers spent their day at Lafayette Middle School's Love Our Schools Serve Day, helping teachers move into brand new classrooms. From moving furniture to organizing supplies, our team worked alongside local volunteers to make sure everything was ready for students.
The smiles and gratitude from the teachers and staff made every minute worth it. It's incredible what we can accomplish when we work together!
Education builds strong communities, and strong communities support better health outcomes. We're honored to be part of both.
Huge thanks to all our volunteers who showed up and showed out!

When medical teams communicate effectively, patients receive better care, staff feel more supported, and hospitals thrive. But when communication breaks down, the consequences can be devastating.
Simple changes make a huge difference:
✓ Active listening without judgment
✓ Clear, structured communication tools
✓ Regular team check-ins
✓ Building personal connections
Every conversation matters. Every patient deserves a team that communicates with clarity, compassion, and purpose.
Together, we can build stronger health care communication—one conversation at a time.

Are you thriving in your medical career, or just surviving?
Dr. Bentley Tate, our Chief Wellness Officer, tackles this important question in his latest article about finding true fulfillment in medicine.
"Fulfillment in medicine is possible. It begins by actively shaping a career path that sustains joy, purpose, and connection," shares Dr. Tate.
His insights on building meaningful relationships, embracing stability, and "beginning with the end in mind" offer a roadmap for clinicians at every stage of their careers.
Because your career should be a fulfilling journey, not just a turbulent voyage.
Dr. Pilgrim joined health care executives from Banner Health, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Valleywise Health last week for an important policy panel at the Flinn Foundation in Phoenix.
The discussion focused on how health care delivery and government policy intersect to impact patient access and outcomes.
Key topics included sustainable funding models, workforce challenges, and innovative approaches to care delivery—all critical issues as we work to ensure quality health care remains accessible to every community.
Grateful for opportunities to contribute to these important conversations shaping the future of health care.

Moving from day-to-day survival to long-term sustainability—every health system faces this challenge.
Our recent webinar brought together health system executives who shared how they're building for the future while managing today's pressures and gave key insights on cost management, strategic planning, and sustainable growth strategies.
Words to live by from one of our clinical leaders:
"At the center of everything we do is supporting high-quality, affordable care for our patients and our communities."
This isn't just what we say—it's how we approach every aspect of health care delivery. When we keep patients and communities at the center, everything else falls into place.

Dr. Ken Heinrich recently participated in a Chicago Health Executives Forum panel discussing how health care organizations can meet rising patient expectations while delivering exceptional care.
The conversation centered on a challenge many of us in health care face: How do we provide the same level of customer service that patients experience in other industries, like retail, while maintaining our commitment to clinical excellence?
At SCP Health, we believe the answer lies in keeping patients at the center of everything we do. Whether it's in the emergency department, hospital medicine, or critical care, our clinicians are dedicated to delivering care that is:
Consistent and high-quality
Data-driven and evidence-based
Respectful of the physician-patient relationship
We're honored to be part of these important conversations that shape the future of health care delivery. Because when we work together, we heal.

Behind every positive health care experience are clinicians who practice daily habits that protect both their patients and their careers.
Whether it's clear communication, thorough documentation, or simply being kind during stressful moments, these small actions make a big difference in patient care.

Sometimes the most innovative care comes from the heart. Dr. Italia started our hybrid telehospitalist program and immediately showed us what's possible when technology meets genuine compassion.
Watching him interact with patients through a screen is truly something special. He takes time to explain their care plan, answer questions, and make sure every patient feels heard and understood. His nursing colleagues appreciate how he makes collaboration feel natural and supportive.
"It's about going beyond just treating the illness and focusing on the patient's overall well-being," Dr. Italia shares. "I like to provide a positive, memorable experience by demonstrating empathy, compassion, and personalized attention to each patient's needs."
Dr. Italia, thank you for showing us that exceptional patient care has no boundaries.

SCP Health (SCP) is a clinical company. At our core we work to bring hospitals and healers together in the pursuit of clinical effectiveness. With a portfolio of over 8 million patients, 7500 providers, 30 states, and 400 healthcare facilities, SCP Health is a leader in clinical practice management spanning the entire continuum of care, including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, wellness, telemedicine, intensive care, and ambulatory care.
Clinically rooted
Established in 1994, SCP Health (SCP) – previously Schumacher Clinical Partners – was founded on the belief that there was a better way to deliver and manage emergency medical services in the hospital environment. Our founder, William “Kip” Schumacher, M.D., aimed to make a positive difference in emergency medicine practice management and services. Over time, that vision evolved to encompass a broader role as a clinical service partner.
Today, SCP has grown to one of the largest healthcare partners in the country. At our core, we work to bring hospitals and healers together in pursuit of clinical effectiveness.
Working toward a better way
After 20 years of operating independently, the originally named Schumacher Group merged with like-minded physician management group Hospital Physician Partners in 2015. The move grew SCP’s national reach, adding 2,000 providers and multiple states to the roster. The following year they also joined forces with ECI Healthcare Partners, a hospital and physician management group. With a new portfolio of 8 million patients, 7,500 providers, 30 states, and 400 hospital facilities, this powerful trio set out to deliver better hospital and physician services on a national level. SCP Healths current array of clinical program offerings has evolved from standalone emergency medicine to span the entire continuum of care including telemedicine, hospital medicine, intensive care, and ambulatory care.
