Thickened liquids may not seem like a big deal, but it can present some unique problems.

1. People do not normally enjoy the thickened liquid, therefore, they tend to drink less. This can lead to dehydration and problems associated with dehydration.

2. Thickend liquid does not always reduce aspiration (Steele et. al, 2021).

We should KNOW if thickened liquid is medically necessary. This is where FEES comes in.
