**It is ILLEGAL in the state of Tennessee to accept or charge ANY compensation for massage therapy services without currently holding a Massage Therapy License in good standing with the TN Massage Licensure Board.**
Exceptions to this include
○ Licensed Estheticians, whose scope of practice includes surface-level facial, arm, leg and foot massage (as part of skincare services)
* this does not include deep tissue massage, muscle manipulation, or activities that require specialized training
○ Physical Therapists (as part of PT treatment plan)
○ Licensed Nail Tech/Cosmotologists (superficial massage of hand, arm, leg, and foot as part of nail care services)
"Certification" does NOT count as Licensure in the state of TN
Beware of significantly cheaper priced massage services, willingness to go to your home, inability to provide credentials upon asking, and unprofessional presentations regarding the advertisement of massage therapy services.
