Psychedelic means "Spirit Revealing." I wrote this poem yesterday after my final session of a psychedelic training I completed with Innate Path, working with psycholytic (low-dose) ketamine and cannabis to assist the body's natural process of healing, growing, and partnering with Life. I've understood conceptually and somewhat experientially why psychedelic medicines have become so popular at this time, but this training helped me personally experience why and how helpful these medicines can be---if used with respect, acknowledgment of their sacred power, and while skillfully and intentionally following and supporting the body's inherent desire and movement to release stuck trauma and pain to allow More Life to flow through. This can happen without medicine, of course; medicines can just help lower our conscious and unconscious defenses to let it happen with less inhibition.
There isn't one final, complete, fully "healed" state. Life is an eternal process. All we can do is the next right thing. With or without medicine, it's possible to feel the fundamental okayness of Life, the Buddha Nature or Basic Goodness of it all, the Sat-Chit-Ananda ("Truth-Consciousness-Bliss") of ultimate reality, in every moment. And it's possible to notice and feel how we, in our bodies and with our histories, resist this ground of Being, in just about every single moment. When we soften to and allow the natural blessings of Life to reach us, oh, what glory. The flow of everloving light. And it always looks and feels slightly different, because every moment, every circumstance, every arising need and desire, requires something new of Life, and Life will not let us down, even in death.
This Life is not separate from you. It is you.
I'm excited to start offering psychedelic medicine-assisted sessions sometime later this year. If you'd like to know when that's happening, comment a psychedelic emoji (you can't do it wrong) and I'll let you know.
In gratitude, humility, and openness to the blessings,
Dan
