Read out loud.
Poetic and fluid.
I am Gabriel; my name means âGod is strong,
El is Great!â
I come like the wind when the strength of God is needed. Enochâs book lists me as one of the seven Archangels:
It is I who visited the prophet Daniel, decoding his visions. Though sent from God on high, I guard the gate of the soul; I arise from the soulâs depth to flood the mind and heart. I am the messianic messenger of the good news, the glad tidings, which are best read upside down since so often they are framed by bad news. I am Gabriel, the guardian angel of earthbound messengers, sent to announce bad news to some, mad news to many, and always good news to the poor and outcast. I am Gabriel, heavenâs winged mystic muse, who carries two sacks overflowing with genius gifts, two sacks full of ripe, creative, new seeds, dripping with Edenâs juices of wild imagination. Slung over my shoulder I also carry for all the sober and
ever-elastic goatskin full of a new wine to make earthâs children drunk on impossible dreams. I am Gabriel, heavenâs compass for explorers who are driven from home on expeditions to the edge, whose only maps are star paths boldly traced across the ebony slates of midnight skies by the scarlet flaming finger of the Spirit Wind. When these explorers stray, lose their way or long to retrace their steps homeward, I whisper in their ears like thunder claps and dance in their dreams the way they are to go, until they once again find their path, the Way. I, Gabriel, was once sent by God to a tiny hillside Galilean village of poor uneducated peasants. I was given a message for the village craftsman, part-time stonemason, carpenter, and doer of odd jobs named Jesus. â Be gentle,â I was told.
âUnfold to him, his message like a banquet tablecloth filled with delicious crumbs. Be gentle! This is a delicate process. Unfolding into fullness is not easy and takes time. Let the ripeness of his message come as slowly as does the dawn.â
