Home with Hope, Inc.

Home with Hope, Inc. We are a nonprofit organziation helping adult men and women who are struggling with drug addiction, Each two-bedroom apartment is shared by four clients.

In 1971, using start-up funds provided by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and contributions from the Lafayette District of the United Methodist Church, the Lafayette Roman Catholic Diocese, the United Presbyterian Church, and concerned local businesses and private citizens, established the Home With Hope, Inc. In 1997, an apartment complex was purchased at 920 N. 11th Street which provides additional space for 44 men and women transitioning from the larger facilities. In November 2007, Home With Hope opened a 32-bed residential recovery house at 1119 Ferry Street. The building was a gift from NCHS of Lafayette, IN with other generous assistance from NCHS, the Community Foundation, West Lafayette CDBG and many other community partners. The Home With Hope, a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status, is a safe refuge for alcoholics and addicts throughout the state of Indiana who are ready and willing to change their lives for the better. The atmosphere of recovery in our program is developed through strict structure and caring, and by maintaining a zero-tolerance environment. We assist in teaching and modeling acceptable behaviors to help with successful recovery and community re-integration. Attending 12-step meetings, seriously working the steps with a sponsor, and applying the 12-step principles to one's everyday living becomes the cornerstone for helping to break the cycle of addiction for our clients. Home With Hope has become a well-established beacon of the Lafayette community by helping alcoholics and addicts overcome their struggles with addition. As a private non-profit organization, Home with Hope is self supporting through client fees, but also relies heavily on tax-exempt donations to continue its important recovery services and to provide a comfortable and safe living environment for its residents.

Congratulations Lindsey and Natalie!

Today, 25 Law Enforcement and Correction Officers completed 40 hours of Crisis Intervention Team Training. Officers represented West Lafayette Police, Lafayette Police, Purdue University Police Department, Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County Sheriff's Office Indiana, Delphi Police Department, Oxford Police Department, Tippecanoe County Community Corrections, and Home with Hope, Inc.

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a community partnership that addresses the needs of mental health consumers who enter the judicial system. The primary goals of CIT are to reduce injuries to officers and mental health consumers during contact and to appropriately redirect mental health consumers from the judicial system to the services and support needed to stabilize consumers and reduce contact with police. A component of CIT is a training academy where officers learn to safely handle mental health consumers in crisis.

Officers learned about community agencies and resources. They
made site visits to Valley Oaks Health Clubhouse, Recovery Café Lafayette, and LTHC Homeless Services and were able to talk with people experiencing homelessness, in recovery from substance use and mental health conditions.

Special thanks to Meridian Health Services, Sycamore Springs, North Central Health Services, and Purdue Federal Credit Union for providing lunch, snacks, and drinks.

Thank you to Faith West Community Center and American Legion Post 492 West Lafayette, IN for the use of their space.
