WHAT IS MYOPIA? -Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common refractive error that makes distant objects appear blurry. If you have a MINUS (-) in your spherical prescription, then you're myopic.
In our office, Dr. Rebecca Fisher-Broussard is sub-specializing in myopia management. She would love to answer any questions you have!

It is important to follow certain guidelines that can help to reduce these effects:

>Limit the amount of time you spend on your phone.
>Take frequent breaks from screen time— at least every hour.
>Place your screen 18-24 inches away from your face.
>Adjust screen brightness and contrast to make it more comfortable.
>Avoid screen use where a glare can affect vision.
>Blink frequently to keep your eyes moist.
>For all near vision tasks such as reading, writing, texting, and computer use, follow the 20-20-20 rule— every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away, for 20 seconds.
>Spend time outdoors; Slowing the progression of myopia has also been associated with spending time outdoors— eye doctors recommend 60-80 minutes outside every day.
