Hurricane season is here! Here’s some tips for seniors during hurricane season in Louisiana! 💙🩺

Tip #1 - Personal Emergency Plan
* Build a support network (family, neighbors, caregivers)
* Share your plan & keep copies
* Know evacuation routes & shelter options
* Pick a meeting place & out-of-town contact

Tip #2 - “Go Bag” Essentials
* 2-week supply of meds & equipment (backup power if needed)
* Copies of ID, insurance, prescriptions
* Flashlight, batteries, phone charger
* Food, water (1 gal/person/day), can opener
* Hygiene items, adult diapers, clothes
* Glasses, hearing aid batteries, mobility aids

Tip #3 - Medical Needs
* Ask doctor/pharmacy about refills
* Arrange backups for oxygen/dialysis/etc.
* Tell home health where you’ll evacuate
* Register with local emergency services

Tip #4 - Stay Informed
* Sign up for alerts & notifications
* Keep a weather radio ready
* Practice your communication plan

Tip #5 - Shelter or Evacuate
* If sheltering: stock food, water, backup power
* If evacuating: leave early, share destination
* Keep car fueled or plan transport
* Know pet/service animal shelter options
