You go to bed tired but can't fall asleep. You finally drift off but wake up at 3am for no reason. Morning comes and you feel like you haven't slept at all.
Sound familiar?
This is what a dysregulated nervous system does to your sleep:
Racing thoughts that won't turn off
Waking between 2-4am (cortisol spike)
Never feeling rested, no matter how long you sleep
Needing hours to "wind down" before bed
Vivid dreams or nightmares
Waking with anxiety or a racing heart
Your body is stuck in fight-or-flight mode. It doesn't feel safe enough to fully rest and restore. And without quality sleep, everything else breaks down - energy, immunity, focus, mood.
Sleep medications don't fix this. They mask it. Real improvement comes from retraining your nervous system to feel safe again.
