Last night, HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties announced our new name to 250 friends at our rebranding celebration. Today, we are officially TRU Community Care! Only our name has changed. Our commitment to hospice, and to the community that founded, shaped and supports us, remains the same.

Education is part of HospiceCare's mission. Last year, 5,836 children, teens, and adults participated in community presentations at schools, faith communities, businesses, nursing facilities, and hospitals. In 2012, 432 volunteers dedicated 31,476 hours to care for patients and their families, walk alongside those who are grieving, assist with administrative tasks, and staff the HospiceCare & Share Thrift Shop. This service is valued at $685,876. Our volunteers come in all age groups--the youngest one is 12 and the most senior is 95! We're so fortunate to have such devoted people donating their time and talent to our cause!

Last year, 1,537 terminally ill patients and their families received our unparalled medical, emotional, and spiritual care and support. We're proud that 99% of caregivers said they would recommend HospiceCare to others.

We at HospiceCare are so thankful for the dedicated volunteers, expert staff, astute Board and Leadership, and incredible patients and families who allow us into their lives at a very vulnerable time. We are so grateful to the generous community and donors that support us in this special work and ensure that we never have to turn away anyone who needs our services, regardless of ability to pay.

Yesterday was Veterans' Day, a time to stop for a moment to honor all the brave men and women who have answered the call of duty. Many of our patients served our country and now, it's our turn to serve them. HospiceCare is proud to have earned Partner Level 4 certification from the national We Honor Veterans program. We were one of the first hospices in the country to receive this designation, the highest offered, showing that our staff is trained to recognize and respond to the unique needs of both veterans and their families.
