We provide each of our mamas with a dedicated team of two midwives. Throughout care, BirthHouse Mamas alternate visits between both of them, allowing time to build two trusting relationships!

This model creates a healthy balance of supporting continuity of care for the best outcomes for mamas, while also promoting sustainability and longevity for the midwives serving. Both matter deeply to us here, and I believe we have found a pretty good balance!

Most women give birth in public hospitals, seeing whichever midwife or doctor is rostered on. But research shows seeing the same person reduces a number of risks.

🐣 April Fools… but no joke 😄

In 17 years of birth work, I’ve supported laboring women at:

• Walmart (more than once!)
• Restaurants
• A baby shower
• A crawfish boil 🦞
• Laundry room
• Chiropractic appointment
• Snow cone stand lines
• So many cars and parking lots😅
…and probably more I can’t think of right now!

Birth doesn’t always start in a birth suite… it starts right in the middle of real life! One reason I love midwifery is because we truly get to serve women wherever they’re at 🤭

But seriously, watch what is at work here!
-Movement, rocking and swaying
-Her birth team providing consistent support to meet mama in her preferred location
- Hip squeezes, as needed
- Normal conversation and giggling between contractions, per this mama’s liking

Physiological birth may look simple at times, but there is a lot of wisdom happening here!
