Doing IVF? Don’t Skip This Before Embryo Transfer (Hysteroscopy Explained)
If you're going through IVF, you’ve invested time, money, energy, and emotion into your embryos.
Before embryo transfer, it’s critical that the uterus is fully optimized for implantation.
In this video, I'll explain:
✔️ What a hysteroscopy is
✔️ How it differs from a saline sonogram
✔️ Why small scar tissue or polyps can be missed
✔️ Why direct visualization can improve uterine readiness
✔️ When IVF patients should consider hysteroscopy
💡 A hysteroscopy is a quick procedure (about 15 minutes) where a small camera is placed inside the uterus to directly examine and treat abnormalities like:
• Scar tissue (Asherman’s syndrome)
• Polyps
• Subtle cavity irregularities
Even when a saline sonogram looks “mostly normal,” hysteroscopy may reveal findings that could affect implantation.
If there’s any doubt about the uterine cavity before embryo transfer, it’s reasonable to ask whether hysteroscopy is appropriate for you.
