Please see the below media release regarding the death that occurred in the 300 block of McCormick Rd on 12/10/2025. The decedent has been positively identified as 21-year-old Grace Haraway of Fox Point, Wisconsin.

The preliminary autopsy results show the cause of death to be a gunshot wound of the head with the manner being su***de.

Our deepest condolences go out to family and friends of Grace, and we hope they are respected during this difficult time.

Please see the below media release regarding the death that occurred in the 300 block of McCormick Rd, West Lafayette, IN. We are working on obtaining legal positive identification and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025.

UPDATE: Next of kin has been successfully located.

Please see the below media release regarding the officer involved shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Porsche Ln East. The decedent has been positively identified as 50-year-old Rodolfo Requenes Jr. from Lafayette, IN.

UPDATE: Next of kin has been located, thank you to everyone who commented and called in to help.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office is requesting the public's help in locating the next of kin for James H. Hensley (DOB: 7/11/1965), a 60-year-old white male who resided in the 1000 block of Joseph St. in Lafayette, IN.

Congratulations to Senior Deputy Coroner Caroline Hanau and Deputy Coroner Aubrey Bryak for getting their two submissions accepted for presentation at the 78th Annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences Conference in 2026! This conference brings together thousands of forensic professionals, researchers, students, and experts from around the world to share ideas and discoveries in the field.

Caroline and Aubrey will be collaborating on a case study presentation titled “A Digital Forensic Phone Download Solves a Homicide Case: ‘I’ll Help You After I Watch You Die’” and a poster presentation titled “Medicolegal Death Investigation and the Use of Digital Latent Print Analysis in Establishing Positive Identification on Complex, High Profile, and Time-Sensitive Cases.” Great teamwork, and thank you both for representing our office and contributing to the field of forensic science!

Please see the below media release regarding the preliminary autopsy findings for Dynasty Battle, victim on the fatal shooting that occurred on 10/15/2025. The preliminary cause of death has been ruled as a gunshot wound of the chest with the preliminary manner being homicide.
