Please see the below media release regarding the final autopsy and toxicology results for Rodolfo Requenes Jr. from the incident that occurred on 11/21/2025.

Final cause of death was ruled as multiple gunshot wounds.
Toxicology showed he had a BAC of 0.150% and caffeine.
Final manner of death was ruled as a homicide.

Preliminary autopsy results for both decedents show the cause to be blunt force injuries of the head and torso due to MVC with the manner being accidental.

Please see the below media release regarding positive identification for both of the motor vehicle crashes that occurred on I-65 on 1/20/2026.

The decedent in the first crash that occurred in the southbound lane of I-65 near the 174 mile-marker has been positively identified as 48 year old Joshua Painter from Battle Ground, Indiana.

The decedent of the second crash that occurred in the southbound lane of I-65 near the 176 mile-marker has been positively identified as 52 year old Richard Newlin from Indianapolis, Indiana.

One female was pronounced deceased at the scene. We are currently working to confirm legal positive identification and locate next of kin.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office is requesting the public's help in locating next of kin for 76 year old Robert Earl Rector (DOB: 8/4/1949) who was pronounced deceased on 12/19/2025 at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

If you are related to or have any information regarding contacting next of kin for Robert, please contact our office.

The preliminary autopsy results show the cause of death to be a gunshot wound of the head with the manner being su***de.
