Honoring a Legacy That Changed Millions of Lives 💙
The National Association for Continence (NAFC) is proud to recognize Steven G. Gregg as the recipient of the SUFU Continence Care Champion Award presented by our esteemed longtime Board Chairman, Dr. Donna Deng.
Dr. Deng played an instrumental role in bringing Steve to NAFC at a time when the organization was struggling, operating in the red, and relying on paper pamphlets and VHS tapes on Kegel exercises.
Through sheer vision, determination, and relentless commitment, Steve transformed NAFC into the largest and most prolific consumer advocacy organization dedicated to bladder and bowel health.
Under his leadership, NAFC:
• Expanded its national reach to millions of patients and caregivers
• Launched impactful initiatives, including podcast programming and patient education platforms
• Secured major research and public health funding, including PCORI and CDC grants
• Elevated the conversation around continence care, dignity, and mental well-being
Steve’s accomplishments extended far beyond NAFC. An Olympic silver medalist swimmer (1976), the first swimmer inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, received a PhD in exercise biochemistry, built a remarkable career in marketing before bringing his talents to our mission.
Yet, of all his achievements, Steve was most proud of his work at NAFC.
He led with humility.
He never sought recognition.
And he likely never knew just how many lives he changed.
But we do.
His legacy lives on in every patient who feels less alone…
Every caregiver who finds support…
And every conversation that breaks the silence around bladder and bowel health.
While our lives are dimmer without him, we remain forever connected through the impact he made.
💙 Thank you, Steve. You were truly one of the great ones.
