I’ve lived out of the back of my truck in neighborhoods where I slept with one eye open.
I’ve stayed in places that weren’t safe—physically or spiritually.
I’ve relied on “kindness” that came with strings attached.
I’ve whittled my life down to what I could carry.
I’ve squeezed myself into corners of other people’s homes, bounced between couches and motels.
I’ve had my own place… and lost it when I couldn’t afford rent alone after heartbreak and hardship.
