I posted last week that I saw my oldest client as they were a practice client in school, well this weekend I truly massaged my oldest client, he’s also my test client for all new techniques, creams even how soft the sheets are. He’s also the only client that I will ever post a picture of as he is the only client that has ever signed a release to allow me to post pictures of him and to talk about his medical conditions and how Massage therapy helps him. That was release was a part of the business portion of Massage school.

This weekend I was off but my partner in crime ended up getting a 2 hour table massage. He normally gets a 10 to 20 minute target massage 3 -5 times a week but this weekend was a full on table massage.

I have a home studio as well as my office so it makes it convenient to treat him as he suffers from carpal tunnel in both wrists. He has bulges and herniation’s along his spine in multiple locations. He also has a history of knee surgery with ACL tear and has hardware, including a rod in his femur and screws and his hip and knee.

I am a massage therapist who truly practices what they preach as I personally get a massage every two weeks targeting different areas as needed, and I give my partner in crime a massage when asked which is frequently. Massage has benefited both of us in more ways than I can even describe, the first of which by decreasing pain and increasing quality of life while decreasing the need for as many Pain medication’s.

Continuing celebrating National Get a massage week July 20 - July 26 let’s look at myofascial release

Improved Mobility and Flexibility:
Increases range of motion:
Myofascial release can help improve the range of motion in muscles and joints by addressing restrictions and tightness.

Enhances flexibility:
By releasing restrictions in the fascia, it can improve overall flexibility and mobility, allowing for smoother movement.
Restores proper alignment:
It can help correct postural imbalances caused by tight muscles, leading to better alignment and posture.

Enhanced Circulation:
Increases blood flow:
The gentle, sustained pressure used in myofascial release can improve blood flow to the treated area, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.

It’s that time of day when I am needing a pick me up and today it’s decaf coffee. I’m caffeine sensitive so I drink decaf and this has 2 mg of caffeine which is enough to give me a little boost to get me through the rest of the afternoon.

What do you do, to give yourself a boost to get through your afternoon?

Benefits of dry brushing

Dry brushing has gained traction for a reason. The list of benefits include:

Detoxifying the skin

The mechanical action of dry brushing is excellent for exfoliating rough, dry skin, she says. “Dry brushing unclogs pores in the exfoliation process. It also helps detoxify your skin by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph flow/drainage,” says Dr. Khetarpal. Also, by unclogging pores, it’s easier for the body to sweat and eliminate toxins in your system.

Stimulating the nervous system

Dry brushing can make you feel good since it has the additional benefit of stimulating your nervous system. It can also leave you feeling invigorated like a massage often does.
