Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital is a patient focused and physician directed hospital specializing in orthopedic, neurological, ear, nose & throat, urological, plastics, gynecological, and general surgical procedures and pain management. We have eight operating rooms and two procedure rooms that accommodate 8,000 total cases annually. Since opening our doors, we have established a strong repu

tation and presence in the Acadiana community by exceeding patients' expectations for treatment, comfort, safety, and cost. Our patient satisfaction rates are outstanding, consistently reaching 98% and higher. Because we are a physician-owned hospital, our doctors have much more direct involvement with every aspect of care that is provided. By closely coordinating care with our nurses and support staff, our physician partners help to ensure the highest standards of care, optimal outcomes and patient safety, convenience and satisfaction.

Making Strides in Men's Healthcare: Dr. Jeffrey Thibodeaux performed LSSH's first Aquablation Procedure in February. 💧

Aquablation is a minimally invasive, robot-assisted surgical procedure used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), more commonly known as an enlarged prostate.

Unlike traditional surgeries that use heat or lasers, Aquablation uses a high-pressure, heat-free waterjet to precisely remove excess prostate tissue that is blocking urine flow.

Recovering from surgery looks different for everyone. At Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital, we’re committed to helping each patient experience the smoothest recovery possible. Here are six important steps to support a safe and comfortable healing process.

💙 Follow your doctor’s instructions
Stick to all post-op guidelines, even if you feel better. Overdoing it can cause complications or infection.

💙 Ask for help
Let family and friends handle chores and errands so you can focus on healing.

💙 Move carefully
Start walking as soon as you’re able to prevent issues like blood clots and constipation. Gradually increase activity.

💙 Eat well
Choose nutrient-rich foods and follow any dietary restrictions to support healing.

💙 Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of fluids to aid recovery and medication absorption.

💙 Keep follow-up appointments
Attend all scheduled visits so your doctor can monitor your progress and catch any issues early.
