The changing of the seasons is a great time to slow down and reflect… but slowing down can sometimes be challenging in our busy world. Starting next Saturday, September 6th, join me for a series of four guided walking meditations at Waneka Lake.
If you’ve ever tried meditation and thought it wasn’t for you because you have trouble sitting still, this is just the practice for you. If you already enjoy traditional seated meditation, walking meditation is a lovely change of pace and addition to your mindfulness toolkit.
Athough this event is booked as a series, each class is a complete practice so you are welcome to just come to however many you are able. Sign up at the Lafayette Rec Center or through the link in my bio. I hope I’ll see you there!

Wednesdays in June from 5:45-6:15pm I’ll be leading a walking meditation group at Waneka Lake Park made possible by the Lafayette Recreation Center! The link is in my bio to sign up ✨
I’m SO excited to be leading this workshop series. If you have ever felt like meditating wasn’t accessible to you because you “can’t sit still” this is just the practice for you. If you already enjoy typical seated meditation it’s a fantastic change of pace and addition to your practice too!
In our busy world, sitting down and meditating can sometimes be difficult. Walking meditation helps bridge that gap, slowing down without requiring complete stillness. There’s space to practice calming your mental chatter while nourishing your body with the gentle movement of walking. In the beautiful setting of Waneka Lake we will use SoundOff (noise canceling) Headphones to minimize distraction and help you reap all of the benefits that meditation has to offer.
The link is in my bio to sign up for this series. It’s $40 for Lafayette residents or $48 for non-residents. Each class is a complete practice so (though you are paying for the series as a whole) you can attend how ever many of the 4 sessions you are able. If you can’t make it to the June series, I’ll be doing a second one in July… Or if you’re looking for a longer series you can always do both 😉. Please feel welcome to DM me or comment if you have any questions 🤍

Okay ya’ll I have been SLACKING when it comes to advertising all the stuff I have coming up so prepare yourselves for many more posts than usual! (The usual amount is zero lol).
I’m so excited for the grand opening of the Neurodiversity Community Center on Saturday here in Lafayette Colorado! It’s a new non profit focused on creating a space where folks-regardless of how they experience the world- can find safety, connection, belonging, and empowerment. My partner has been working with the founder on the tech side and I am looking to host some events there (crafting, mindfulness, yoga) in the future.
At the block party on Saturday I’ll be bringing some embroidery supplies for anyone who wants to get stitchy with me. We want to fill the party with all of our special interests, so bring an activity to share! Lawn games, craft projects, sensory activities, whatever is welcome. The event will have both high stimulation opportunities and low stimulation opportunities so that everyone can have fun in the ways that feel good to them.
I really hope I will see you there! I’m beyond excited to better connect with our community and celebrate being ourselves ♥️

Hi friends! I’m holding a new workshop over the next two weekends. Stitching as meditation has been a powerful part of my yoga practice especially when I’ve had health flare ups that have made getting on my mat challenging or impossible. I want to share this practice with you! All materials and instruction will be provided (beginners to embroidery absolutely welcome). Come join me for ‘Embroidery Mandalas for Meditation and Connection.’ More details and registration for the event at the link here and in my bio: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/embroidery-mandalas-for-meditation-and-connection-registration-494266643837

Garden toe balances mean smiles, falls, and dirty feet! 🙌🏽🌻
I had a fun time setting up this picture for for our theme this week. Check out their page for an additional video with my quick thoughts on striking balance day to day.
Also, I know it’s been a while IG! (Other than story posts) Hello to the new folks who are following 👋🏽 You can probably expect me to continue to post somewhat infrequently at the moment. I’m focusing on my life outside of the app and making sure that I’m posting with the right intentions when I do. I’m also doing personal work in regards to anti-racism, social, and environmental activism and I’m very conscious right now as a white-passing cis hetero femme of not taking up space where other voices need to be heard.
Anyway, I hope you all are doing well, staying safe, and taking things one day at a time right now. And go play in the dirt some if you get the chance! 🌸💛

Absolutely go ahead and post a blacked out picture like this one to show your support, but-
1. Do not hashtag with blacklivesmatter or blm, those tags are an important communication resource and shouldn’t be interrupted.
2. Know that a day or week of not posting can not be an excuse for white silence. If you’re not taking up real estate online you must still be donating, protesting, offering emotional support, giving your patronage to black owned businesses, contacting local/state governments, or educating yourself and others. Honor the cause by doing the work, and please take care of yourself too 🖤

Achievement is something our society often focuses on. There are so many boxes that we’re pressured to check off before we can give ourselves a break:
✔️ career
✔️ family
✔️ romance
✔️ grades
✔️ appearance
This mindset can often spill into our yoga practice as well. “Go deeper,” “push farther,” “hold longer.” I want to get “my splits,” “my handstand,” “my full bind.” These are all things that you might hear in an average class, or maybe things you have even said to yourself at one point or another.
While there’s nothing wrong with challenging ourselves, how can we encourage growth without focusing on an end result or finish line?
Restorative yoga challenges us in a different way. It challenges us to shift from achieving to simply experiencing. When you lay fully supported in a shape there is no finish line, no goalpost, no “fullest expression of the pose.” It’s just you sitting with yourself, your thoughts, and your breath. No one should have to feel guilty for making space and time for themselves. It’s hard sometimes, but we must remember that being is just as important as doing, resting is just as important as pushing, experiencing is just as important as achieving.
Join me every Friday at 4pm at for weekly restorative yoga and next Sunday, February 16th, join me for a special extended restorative practice from 1:30-3:30pm with mini-facials provided by (link in my bio to sign up, there is only ONE SPOT LEFT!). I hope to see you on your mat soon 🤍

Catalena (Cat) Eskey began her asana practice in 2013, but believes that we all practice yoga in our own ways throughout our lives. Our practice on the mat is merely one piece of a larger puzzle that helps to bring more joy, compassion, and vitality to our existence. Professionally trained in fine art and speech language pathology, Cat turned to yoga to see her through a time when she struggled with the pressures of graduate school. She lacked direction in career and personal wellness, but yoga gave her the tools and resources to manage her stress, build self-esteem, and renew her passion for learning and play across all aspects of her life. These experiences led her to pursue training as a teacher so that she could pass on these gifts to all those who might benefit.
The many styles of yoga available in the world today from traditional flow to kitten yoga provide opportunities for every student to be met exactly where they are in their journey. Like with most things in life, a variety of experiences may be necessary before one really “lands.” For Cat, that a-ha! moment came in the form of aerial yoga. The strength and expressiveness of the silks offer her a new perspective each time she practices, and her enthusiasm for channeling those experiences makes this one of her favorite styles to teach.
Bringing yoga to everybody and Every Body is also an area of particular interest. With a trauma informed perspective, Cat has trained in adaptive yoga. Her desire is to make the asana practice more accessible to people of every size and shape as well as disability, injury, or perceived limitation.
Cat trusts that there is a time and place in all lives for heat, challenge, and transformation, as well as a time and place for rest, grounding, and restoration. In the interest of this equilibrium, Cat teaches to both sides. She offers Vinyasa and Flow classes that warm the muscles of the body and hone physical fitness as well as Yin and Restorative classes that use sustained postures to work into the body’s soft tissue and explore the inner landscape of the mind. The combination of both in balance creates long term emotional and physical wellbeing.
Overall, yoga is a “practice” because it is a journey. We are never truly done learning or growing from it. One of the most important lessons it teaches us is the nature of impermanence- that all experiences will come to an end. Happiness will be replaced by sadness and sadness by happiness, but through the practice of observing these cycles we can become less attached to their ups and downs and simply enjoy the ride.
