Event season is right around the corner, and the Oxford House kicked things off early today with a wonderful community event at the Bauer Center! E.R.A. was there along with Tippecanoe County Community Corrections and several other community providers. Our beloved member Lisa Michael-Brewer designed a thoughtful Recovery Garden for attendees to display their recovery blessings in a creative way. Despite not feeling well, Lisa showed up for her friends and her community because she's an amazing person. We love you, Lisa! And we love the community and everyone who fights hard to help those in need.

What if sobriety wasn’t about getting it right all the time, but about giving yourself the space to grow 🪶

In a world where progress matters more than perfection, you’d be free to embrace the journey—messy moments and all.

Keep showing up. Keep going. That’s enough. 💛

If you have the luxury of thinking addicts chose their addiction, remember to thank your Higher Self that you have no idea what this life is like. One thing you never want to do is watch someone you love, who has fought so hard to beat addiction, throw everything away and sink back into a life that will most likely lead to jail or death. You want to grab them and shake them and scream, "What are you doing?!?!" but, at some point, you realize it wouldn't make a bit of difference. So, you sit back and watch the tragedy unfold, as if you are watching a movie. Feeling helpless to stop it, feeling like you haven't done enough to help, even though you know, only the addict can help themselves. Battling addiction is a beast for the person addicted, and for the ones who love them. l am asking you to stand with me in support of every family member, loved one, and friend who has lost or is losing their battle with drugs, alcohol, mental health or other addictions and for those who continue to conquer it!
Put this on your page for even just one hour if you know someone who struggles/ed with addiction.🤲🏽🦋💜😞🙏
You’re not alone. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

"If addiction is defined by its persistence in the face of negative consequences, how can punishment ever be the most effective solution?"

Tonight, E.R.A. gathered together for dinner to celebrate our friendship and the wonderful things we were able to accomplish in 2024. In our first full year since inception, we evolved from being a peer alumni group for individuals progressing through Relapse Prevention, to planning and hosting events such as the Spring Carnival and Trunk or Treat. We also host game nights for Tippecanoe County Community Corrections participants, and offer our personal stories of success as encouragement and guidance for those struggling in situations we are all too familiar with.

This group has grown together in ways that are surprising and wonderful. TCCC has been supportive, as have the community partners who have helped us along the way. Thank you to you all, and we wish you all happy holidays!
