In 1965, the legendary Raphael Mechoulam (the man who discovered Delta 9 THC and the endocannabinoid system) achieved the "total synthesis" of Delta 8. He was the first to build the molecule from scratch in a lab, proving its unique chemical structure to the world.

Mechoulam didn't just study the chemistry; he studied the impact. In a famous 1990s study, Delta 8 was used to treat children undergoing chemotherapy. The results? It was incredibly effective at stopping nausea, with far fewer "high" side effects than traditional THC.
