A landmark study from Karolinska Institutet has confirmed that adults continue to generate new neurons in the hippocampus, the brain’s memory and learning hub. Remarkably, neurogenesis was observed across a wide age range, even in individuals up to 78 years old. This discovery challenges long-held beliefs that brain cell growth ceases in adulthood and instead highlights the brain’s lifelong plasticity. The finding has profound implications for developing treatments for memory decline, mood disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s. By proving that the brain can renew itself, researchers have unlocked new hope for therapies that could enhance cognition and resilience at any age.

Most people don’t realize your jaw and pelvis are linked. Not just through posture or movement habits, but through your developmental blueprint.

Around day 15 of embryonic development, two critical areas begin to form: the oropharyngeal membrane, which becomes the mouth, and the cloacal membrane, which becomes the openings of the digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.

The spine grows between them establishing a physical and neurological connection that lasts your entire life.
This connection continues through fascia and the central nervous system. The dural tube, which surrounds and protects the spinal cord, creates a continuous communication pathway from your jaw down to your sacrum.

When there’s tension or misalignment in the jaw whether from clenching, TMJ dysfunction, or altered bite it changes head posture. Your body compensates to keep balance, often by tilting the pelvis or shifting your weight.

Over time, these small changes can show up as chronic hip pain, pelvic instability, or forward head posture.
There’s also a functional link: the jaw and pelvic floor are both involved in how your body stabilizes the spine. They’re part of your core system.

If your jaw is clenched, chances are your pelvic floor is either overactive or not firing properly. This affects posture, breath control, and how your nervous system regulates tension.

Posture isn’t just a matter of standing tall. It’s a full-body coordination between systems that started forming before you were even born.

This randomised controlled study found, "Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Relaxation Techniques techniques reduced migraine headache, temporomandibular disorder level, drug consumption, and functional disability levels, and increased cervical region range of motion. These results suggest that CST techniques could be considered in migraine treatment as one of the clinical practical applications within the framework of a certain protocol". Emerging science suggests that the effects of trauma could be genetically passed down from one generation to another.

“If you feel you have been affected by a very traumatic, difficult, life-altering experience that your mother or father has had, there’s something to that,” says Rachel Yehuda, professor of psychiatry and neuroscience of trauma at Mount Sinai in New York. Her research points to a small epigenetic “signal” that a life-altering experience “doesn’t just die with you,” she says. “It has a life of its own afterwards in some form.”

A groundbreaking stem cell procedure has reversed Type 1 diabetes in a woman in China, marking a major medical milestone:

Researchers used the woman’s own cells, reprogramming them into insulin-producing stem cells.

As a result, she began producing insulin naturally for the first time since developing the condition. This breakthrough offers new hope for millions with Type 1 diabetes, who currently depend on insulin therapy to manage their blood sugar levels.

The study involved three patients with Type 1 diabetes. Scientists extracted cells from each patient, converted them into stem cells capable of transforming into any cell type, and chemically reprogrammed them into insulin-producing cells.

These newly created cells were then placed inside the patients’ stomachs, where they began producing insulin. While it’s early days, the success with the first patient suggests a future where Type 1 diabetics may no longer need insulin injections to survive.

You want a tight iliotibial band, achilles tendon, thoracolumbar fascia etc...

Tension provides the environment for force to transfer.

Force transfer leads to movement.

Movement is medicine

My Story

I became interested in body work therapies following a fall from a horse in 2004. I trained as a Practitioner of Ortho-Bionomy because I was impressed by its gentle, non-intrusive and effective ability to relieve pain.

Ortho-Bionomy is a comprehensive bodywork that includes craniosacral and visceral therapy positional release and postural re-education. It provides relief from acute and chronic pain, increases ease of movement, encourages faster healing from injury and assists the body in recovery from trauma.

Over the years I have continued my professional development by attending advanced training courses. Most recently I have begun training in neural manipulation through the Barral Institute, this has deepened my practice and I have found it to be deeply rewarding and effective.

My clients come to see me for a variety of reasons: for help with injuries (both acute and chronic); migraines; concussion; whiplash; neck and shoulder tension; acute and chronic pain; reducing mental, emotional and physical stress; to improve range of motion, flexibility and posture. This list provides a snapshot of the problems that are helped in a session.
