You wouldn't skip oil changes and wonder why the engine fails. You wouldn't ignore the yard for months and be surprised by the weeds.

Your marriage requires intentional investment by both you and your spouse — time that isn't about kids or work. Time that is purely about the two of you.

It doesn't have to be elaborate. A long drive. A dinner with no phones. A walk and a real conversation.
Can't leave the house? Put the kids to bed and have a picnic on the floor or outside under the stars.

Plan it. Protect it. Show up for it.

1) EYE CONTACT + 2) TOUCH

A hand on the shoulder. A hand held during a hard conversation. A hug that lasts longer than two seconds.

We communicate constantly through our bodies — safety, presence, connection.

When words are hard, your body can say: I'm here. I see you. I'm not going anywhere.

Don't underestimate the small physical gestures. They carry enormous weight.

Love isn't just something you feel — it's something you choose.

Every morning when you reach out instead of rolling over.

Every evening when you ask "how was your day" and actually mean it.

Every argument where you pause and remember: this person is my partner, not my opponent.

Love is a decision made in small moments.

And those moments add up to a marriage. 💛

Quick question: Do you know your partner's love language?

Not what you think it is - what they've actually told you it is.

The five love languages aren't just a quiz you take once. They're a framework for understanding what makes your person feel genuinely loved--> because what fills your cup may not fill theirs.

If you haven't taken it together recently, this week is a good time.

What's your love language?

Your partner doesn't always need you to have solutions.

Often, they just need you to listen...to feel heard. That alone can change their posture towards you and open space for so much more.

Active listening isn't waiting for your turn to talk.

It's making eye contact. Putting the phone down. Repeating back what you heard — not your interpretation of it, not based on your background conversation.
Try asking one question to understand more. Resisting the urge to fix it or defend yourself.

Marriage, rooted in faith, was never meant to be transactional. It was designed to reflect something deeper — love that chooses, that forgives, that grows.

It's a covenant that says: I'm committed to this, to us...even when it's hard.

If you've forgotten what your covenant looks like, let's find it again.

You answer in one word sentences. You can't remember the last time you initiated a real conversation with your spouse. You feel vaguely guilty but too exhausted to do anything about it. You're numb, maybe isolating yourself, "decompressing" by submersing yourself in social media.

This is what burnout does inside a marriage — it hollows you out from the inside, and your partner is usually the first to feel the absence.

They don't know they're grieving your burnout. They just know something is missing. And sometimes they take it personally.

This is not a character failure. It's an emergency that deserves attention. 💛

Let's take today to not just bring awareness to those on the Spectrum...
but to all those that may feel they are a little different.

The ones that may sometimes go unnoticed, that may not feel like they fit in, that may not have the right things to say at the right time, that have quieter or quirkier personalities and take a little encouraging to be themselves.

Let's make a point to really SEE all of these people today! Maybe it's someone behind the coffee counter or in line at the store. A genuine "how are you doing today?" can go a long way for so many.

Spread the love people.

When kids see their parents communicating with respect, choosing each other daily, and coming together after conflict, they learn emotional safety from the inside out.

They learn what a healthy relationship looks like before they ever have one of their own. They learn they have a safe space to truly be themselves.

Your marriage is the first love story your children will ever witness.

Make it one worth watching. 💛

When a husband and wife are thriving — connected, communicating, genuinely invested in one another — that energy flows outward. Into how they parent. Into how they show up at work. Into how they treat the people around them.

The health of your marriage is not a private matter.

It's a gift to everyone you touch. 💛

A healthy marriage isn't just a personal blessing. It's the foundation from which everything else grows. How you parent. How you show up at work. How you love your community.
After walking alongside individuals, couples, and families, I'm narrowing my focus to the place where I believe the most meaningful healing begins — your marriage.

When that root gets stronger, everything that grows from it changes.

I'm Faith Abshire, and I'm here to help you build that. 💛
