📚✨ 3 Ways to Help Your Kids Have a Healthy School Year ✨📚
As the new school year begins, set your child up for success with these healthy habits:
1️⃣ Prioritize routines – Nutritious meals, plenty of sleep, and daily physical activity fuel learning and friendships. Bonus tip: set screen time limits, especially before bed.
2️⃣ Stay on top of checkups & vaccines – A yearly well-child visit keeps kids ready to thrive (and helps prevent the spread of illness in school).
3️⃣ Support mental health – Be a safe space for your child to share feelings, watch for signs of stress, and connect with school counselors or your pediatrician if needed.
Healthy bodies + healthy minds = a stronger school year. 💪🍎✏️

🍎 What’s on your toddler’s plate today? By age 2, little ones can enjoy the same meals as the rest of the family—making mealtime a chance to connect and learn healthy habits together.
Here’s a daily guide for a typical 2-year-old (about 1,000–1,400 calories/day):
🥛 2–2½ cups of dairy
🌾 2–3 servings of grains
🍓 1 cup fruit
🥦 1 cup vegetables
🍗 1½–2 oz protein
🥑 3 tsp healthy fats
💧 Best drinks: plain milk and water. Skip the sugary drinks!
✅ Tip: Focus on balance over the week—not battles at every meal. Growth, variety, and shared family meals matter most.

🍼 Teething troubles? You’re not alone! Babies often start showing teething signs as early as 3 months, and while drool, chewing, and fussiness are common, not every symptom parents expect is really caused by teething.
Try these safe soothers:
❄️ Chilled (not frozen solid) washcloth or teething toy
💧 Cold water in a sippy cup (6+ months)
🤲 Gentle gum massage
🛁 Calming bedtime routines like a warm bath or white noise
🚫 Skip remedies like numbing gels, homeopathic tablets, or amber necklaces.
Remember—teething is a milestone, not a medical mystery. If your baby has fever, diarrhea, or unusual crying, it may be something else—give us a call. 💙

Doctor Suzie Schuessler was born into healthcare, following in the footsteps of her grandfather who was a surgeon. She takes a traditional approach to medicine that combines compassion with years of expertise.
After attending Samford University in Birmingham, AL, Dr. Suzie went on to medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She completed her residency at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama – UAB. In 1988, she began practicing medicine in LaGrange and opened her current office in 2000. Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Suzie is licensed in both Georgia and Alabama. She is a member of several organizations, including American Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia, Troup County Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics (fellow and member) and Child Abuse Protocol Team. She is also on the staff at West Georgia Health System and is an assistant clinical professor for the Department of Community Medicine at Mercer University. In addition, she serves as preceptor for Georgia State University and Emory University.
Her focus is always on delivering the best possible treatment for each child. Beyond her medical expertise, Dr. Schuessler has a unique understanding of how to care for your child and come to them on their level. She also speaks Spanish, bridging the communication gap that often exists with our Hispanic families.
