Partnering with Covenant Counsel & Coach, LLC. in Developmental Psychology from Liberty Univeresity in 2023. Prior, I graduated with my Master of Arts (MA) Degree is Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of The Cumberlands in 2020. I am an Associate Professional Counselor (APC) acquiring full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Covenant Counsel & Coach, LLC. I have recently begun accepting insurance, so be sure to ask if this is something you'd like to utilize. I do instill a biblical-based approach to my counseling sessions. My practice is to utilize a Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered technique to explore how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences/behaviors. During our time together, you will become educated on how to fight against negative thoughts to improve your feelings and responses. The Haven (Backstory):
I began working in the Child Advocacy Center community in 20147 during my undergraduate studies. After about 2 years of learning and growing in the field of Child Advocacy, I was in the role of a lead forensic interviewer interviewing children for law enforcement and the Division of Family & Children Services who had alleged some type of child maltreatment. I had found myself in a conversation/interview with a child regarding childhood sexual abuse. She was a tall, thin, beautiful, pre-teen girl. During our 'break', she wrote a letter to me. I wouldn't find the letter until after the conclusion of the interview. She was strong, resilient, and eager for 'more' in life. She talked about never having a 'safe space' before. As we were walking out of the interview room, she asked me to look at the letter she had written me. It wasn't until I was in my office a few hours later when my eyes were filling with tears, that I realized how powerful her words were that day. She wrote to me that I was her 'Safe Haven'. She stated she felt calm, supported, and heard. She told me that she was comforted, but wasn't exactly sure why. The idea of this journey didn't come full circle until 2023 when I began playing with the idea of opening a private practice. Still in the world of child advocacy, my heart was tugging for 'more'. It was time to trust God with the plans He had for my life. That's when life was given to 'The Haven'. I was only a few months postpartum, facing the depth of PPA and PPD when I realized there was only one way out of the darkness - through Christ. Psalm 46:1 began replaying in my head. "He is your help in trouble, Cait" was the words of The Holy Spirit. I was soon reminded of that beautiful little girl sitting in front of me a few years prior. It was then that God showed me my calling. I pray so specifically that God moves in your life. I pray so intimately that God becomes that place of refuge for you. I pray that if you allow me to be a part of your journey, He move through me to provide you with all that you need.
