Feeling all the feels with the start of school. We can’t prepare for EVERYTHING but there are things we can do to ease this transition! 1) talk about it!! I hear often “if we talk about it then they’ll think about it/feel “worse” etc.” but honestly if you are thinking about something (I’m looking at you parents) they likely are too. Talk about it, ask questions, let it take up space!
2) transitional objects: a special keychain, bracelet, picture, etc can make a huge impact and remind them they are not alone, being thought of and safe
3) patience: everyone’s getting back to a routine which is so critical but initially stressful. Create a plan! Lay out what the morning will look like, set timers and remind yourself you guys are just getting the ball rolling this will get smoother!
