You are not alone.
This season, if you’re feeling lonely, grieving someone you’ve lost, or overwhelmed by pain, please remember: your life matters. Your story is not over.
What we know:
• In the U.S., nearly 50,000 people died by su***de in 2022, reaching the highest number in decades.
• Feeling disconnected, missing loved ones who have passed, or being isolated increases risk, especially when the holidays amplify memories and emotions.
• Although studies show that national su***de rates don’t necessarily spike during the holidays (one report found December had among the lowest average daily su***de rates) that doesn’t minimize how you or your loved one might feel in this time. The depth of pain is real and valid.
📞 If you’re in a crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, please call or text:
988, the U.S. Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (available 24/7)
Or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) if you prefer voice.
You don’t have to face this alone.
What you can do right now:
• Reach out: send a text, a DM, a message. Say: “I’m here. You matter.”
• Talk to someone: a family member, friend, mentor, your pastor, just one trusted person.
• Stay connected: avoid being alone for long stretches. Let someone know where you are.
• Remember: grief, loss, change, they stir strong feelings. Let yourself feel them AND ask for help.
• If you see someone withdrawing, missing for days, unusually silent, check on them. You might be the lifeline they need.
A gentle reminder for you:
You are a masterpiece. You may be cracked, but like the art of kintsugi, those cracks can become the gold lines that show your strength, your story, your healing. (Yes, I speak your language as a fellow healer.)
Your grief, your pain, they are chapters, not the whole book. Your hope, your breath, your tomorrow, they matter.
