When discovering yoga, I naively (and also sincerely) believed that it was a magic panacea that would miraculously make my life exponentially easier, more peaceful, happier and healthier.
Somewhere along the way I realized this wasn’t necessarily true, yet even still I consistently leaned into my practice.
In fact honestly, life has seemed to become increasingly more challenging, painful & intense over the last 26 years of practicing yoga and meditation.
If yoga hasn’t delivered all of my hearts desires, unlimited happiness and nonstop good times, why would I continue to practice?
Here’s the thing, I can’t even imagine moving through this crazy world that we live in without the ground of my practice.
To be honest, practice time is often the primary time that I experience any sorts of sanity, especially in these tumultuous times.
Yoga helps me to remember the anchors of heart and soul in context to living in a body, even when feeling & seeing the pain, the grief, the horror’s that often infiltrate our day to day.
And of course I experience times of happiness, joy, laughter, love, tenderness and beauty.
Life is all of it. Life is Life.
I practice to stay tethered to the bigger picture of which we’re all a part. I practice to cultivate fortitude, steadfastness and softening into moments that may otherwise harden.
And yes, I still practice daily with the intention of cultivating Peace.
These are wild times we’re living in. Take care of your sweet selves, whatever that looks like for you.
Sending Everyone, Everywhere Love & Wellbeing.
