Kurmasana~ Tortoise pose~the conscious withdrawal of energy from the senses..the bridge from the external distractions and reactions to the internal landscape of the mind. I remember when I first started yoga and I couldn’t even touch my knees , let alone my toes! Over time, with consistency, this elusive pose has become a restful and peaceful pose, one that I find deep expansion and peace. day 30 do the pose and post challenge

Day 28 of pose and post challenge! 8 angle pose/astvakrasana... this is a really fun arm balance that is named after the sage Astavkra.. he was cursed by his father to be born crooked in 8 places because he corrected is father when he was in utero when his dad was reacting Vedic texts. Infruriated at being corrected, his dad cursed him. Atavakra walked the village in the manner of this pose, becoming a scholar, philosopher and leader, respected despite his deformities. One day his father was in a big brain debate with the court scholar, and he lost! Astavakra avenged the defeat the court scholar in an arguement, thus becoming the guru to the King. His father then blessed him, and his deformity disappeared. .. for me this pose reminds me to always look opportunities and potential without being limited by my shortcomings...that obstacles are merely lessons on the road, strengthening character and fortitude to face anything that comes my way! It also reminds to be playful and lighthearted. Astavakra loved his dad in spite of the curse, for the curse was never about Astavakra, it was his dads ego. Having the ability to discern what “belongs” to you and what does not, you are FREE!

pose and post challenge day 23! Utkatasana/chair pose also known as fierce, thunderbolt, awkward pose..I love this powerful pose, it fires up the thighs, strengthens my spine and tones the tummtum! Like a thunderbolt, the energy and power of this pose is pretty profound. I lived in high heels most of my life, and now I feel the effects in my shortened Achilles, calves and ankles...as always, a work in progress! This is one chair that not a lazy boy or a recliner🤣😂 it is some serious heart pumpin power! Get fierce and have a seat😉

Day 21 pose and post challenge!
Natrajasana is the dance of Shiva, and for me, is the dance of poster, balance and femininity. This dance is a constant effort to reach and lift forward...into the future while counterbalancing with the kicking back to the past , while staying grounded and anchoring in the present. There is no way to check out in this pose, it is graceful and piercing in it’s qualities to be here...right now.. accepting ourselves as whole and beautiful.

Getting upside down always does wonders for my perspective! Lately my inversion practice has fallen a little to the wayside...and it’s easy to let aspects of the practice fall away. I never had any gymnastics in my background, so handstands were pretty new to me when I started my practice... I recalled cartwheels in the sand as a child and tap into that every time. It’s exhilarating, challenging and always an adventure. I want to honor my inner child and stay playful in life!! Pretty soon i will be killing these in the middle of...anywhere!! 😂 Alright it’s your turn!! pose and post challenge day 20

Sirsasana-headstand at sunset.. shifting perspective and feeling clear headed. I love how this shape aligns my spine. I have glaucoma, so I don’t stay upside down too long, I find it calms my mind, energized my body and keeps me incredibly focused and present. There is nothing like getting upside down, anytime, to reset the mindset! pose and post challenge day 15
