The Happenings- Coming Soon!

The Happenings at G-Town will spotlight activities our residents take part in while living at Glennwood. The residents fondly refer to their home as G-Town. We love it especially as their very own community outreach program “G-Force”is one of the programs they are so proud of.
From cooking and gardening to line dancing and celebrations! The possibilities are endless! It will feature a wide variety of all the happenings taking place that our residents take part in as they go out and live their best independent lives! So keep an eye out for the Happenings!

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the opening of Glennwood House of Laguna Beach. A beginning inspired by the vision of parents wanting a better life for their amazing adult daughters and sons fulfilling their dream to live an independent life just like all of their peers. And thus Glennwood was founded in the beautiful close knit community of Laguna Beach that welcomed us with open arms and continues to welcome and integrate Glennwood into this thriving coastal community. We continue to grow, develop, and inspire the world around us to support the disability community and to realize everyone has the right to live a full independent life with respect and love.
Along with our Residents, we also celebrate our incredible team of Administrators and Support Staff and thank our families and our supporters for these past twelve years and standing with us in partnership as we look forward to the future.

What a summer Glennwood had! Two great full weeks of summer camps! Our campers were excited, energetic and ready to go! We adventured thru Orange and LA counties mixing it up with fun learning experiences and loads of just plan fun with each other! From the butterfly gardens and “Fierce:the story of cats” exhibit at the Natural History Museum; to celebrity sightings at Madame Tussaud and Universal Studios; and a bit of ghost adventures at the Queen Mary thrown in for good measure!
Movie day, bowling; sports day/picnic at Irvine Park, splash down at Wild Rivers , cheering on our Angels and cooking class with Chef Brandon rounded out the summers fun filled camp activities! We can’t wait to see what next summer brings!

Glennwood residents and staff had a wonderful opportunity to take part in this year’s Julie Foudy girls soccer and leadership camp! During the week they assisted the staff and coaches. The residents helped support the campers as well as cheer the teams on in the exciting World Cup Finals. As part of the afternoon leadership camp they were given the unique opportunity to share their personal experiences living and working with a disability, establishing their independence, and giving back to their community. On this 30 year milestone of , We thank Julie Foudy for continuing to support diversity, equality and inclusion by including our Glennwood Women this summer! We eagerly look forward to next summer and future collaborations!

Glennwood's G-Force was back again, helping with the beautification program at Doheny State Beach Foundation. Doheny State Beach is one of our favorite volunteer locations. In addition to gardening and planting, we also enjoy visiting the Visitor Center to learn about the diverse array of sea animals, mammals, birds, and vegetation in the local area. The Park Rangers are amazing, so be sure to stop by this beautiful state beach in South Orange County and celebrate Earth Day all year long!

Today, we celebrate worldwide as the United Nations hosts the 14th World Down Syndrome Day Conference in Geneva. This year's global theme is "Improve our Support Systems," and we join in "asking leaders across the globe to make changes to include persons with Down Syndrome and other disabilities in the community."

At Glennwood House today, we celebrated our differences and our togetherness with our crazy socks, bringing awareness to everyone in our communities and advocating for inclusion and individual rights for persons with Down Syndrome.

Glennwood House Residents and Staff were excited and honored to join Jeff & Carla Meberg, and our friends from LOCA Arts Education - Laguna Beach CA at the 58th Annual Laguna Beach Patriots Parade. We had a wonderful time walking the parade route to celebrate patriotism and community again this year. Our highlights were meeting Chief of Police, Jeff Calvert, of the Laguna Beach Police Department and members of the City of Laguna Beach - Government Councilwomen Sue Kempf and Hallie Jones. What a fantastic day in Laguna Beach for everyone and reinforcement of our favorite mantra, "Lovin' Our Life in Laguna!"

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the Lunar New Year and Tina's birthday! We enjoyed our visit to South Coast Plaza and wrapped up the welcome to 2025 with a fancy lunch at Din Tai Fung.
