Saving lives is at the heart of everything the Providence Mission Hospital trauma team does—including maintaining an active presence in our communities. Over the past few weeks, this tireless team has participated in three , partnering with the cities of , and to provide education on trauma prevention and highlight the importance of building healthy safety routines.

More than 2000 families attended the three events, during which our teams led interactive educational safety games, promoted walking and biking safety and shared information about our “Save the Brain” free helmet giveaway for children and youth up ages two to 17. The team also handed out a variety of materials, including coloring books, ride safety stickers and tote bags. A special highlight of each event was the Plinko Trauma Prevention Game, in which children were tested on their safety knowledge and rewarded with LED flashlights for their efforts.

Promoting education through community activities like National Nights Out is just one way our trauma team hopes to keep individuals and families out having fun—versus in our trauma bays.

The Providence Mission Hospital Trauma team was in the house for last night’s in . If you stopped by our Trauma Injury Prevention Booth, you received a variety of materials on e-bike safety and fall prevention as well as some fun bike safety coloring books, ride safe stickers and tote bags. We also shared important trauma statistics to highlight the importance of injury prevention and to encourage everyone to build healthy safety routines.

If you missed the event, there’s one more National Night Out next Tuesday, August 12 from 5-8pm in Founders Park in Ladera Ranch. We look forward to seeing you there!
