Astrological Forecast December 2025

December opens with the Sun in active, vital Sagittarius. Traveling, shopping, partying—many people love this energy; others do not. Sagittarius, a warm, inclusive, enthusiastic Fire sign, is always urging everyone to join the party. Bless their hearts! Some of us just want to say "no," and it's perfectly okay. You don't have to feel guilty. At the other extreme are those who "hate this time of year" and just want it to be over. Life really is too short to spend six weeks hating and wishing for time to pass.
The veil between the worlds gets very thin at Halloween, but what gets forgotten is that it keeps getting thinner right down to Winter Solstice on December 21st. This can make the holiday season difficult to navigate. My solution is to curate the holidays. Pick what parts and activities you enjoy. Skip the ones you don't care for. If you feel obligated to spend time with disharmonious people, limit it—stay an hour, not all day!
For those who are not outer-directed, the energy is very dark and deep. Nature, even here in Southern California, is regenerating itself. It is a wonderful time for meditation, dreamwork, visioning, and taking a deep dive. The spirit world is very close. The key phrase for Sagittarius is "I perceive," and this energy is all about seeking truth and proving the future. The truth is perceived differently by different people; let us keep that in mind.
Mercury went direct on November 24th, so a lot of confusion and stuckness should be sorting itself out now. It will still be in its shadow transit until December 17th, traveling over its retrograde pass, sorting out and chewing up what went before.
The Moon is Full in Gemini on December 4th. This is usually the moment where the season gets off to a BANG! Plenty of full moon energy to go around. After that, the Sun and Moon wane (grow darker) together up to the New Moon on December 19th at 5:43 pm. This could feel like a quiet time period. Don't stress; nothing is wrong. Energy may be low.
The Winter Solstice takes place on December 21st at 7:03 am. The Sun reaches its turning point, and after that, light starts to return. For those deeply involved in spiritual work, the space between the New Moon and the Solstice is of particular interest—full of depth and possibility.
At the Solstice, the Sun goes into Capricorn, a serious and hardworking sign. This may be a holiday where we are aware of helping our community with donations of food, money, time, and/or prayers. As New Year's draws closer, the Moon approaches fully, almost full on New Year's Day, bringing brightness back to the sleeping earth. Our meditations and affirmations at this time can involve a secure and prosperous future for our planet in balance and beauty. The Full Moon in Cancer brings a much-appreciated light of nurturing love and promise for the future.

The Tarot card for December and the Sagittarius season is the Temperance card. It has been a very intense year. We have had the opportunity to not only let go of a lot that no longer serves us, but we have also been forced to go within and face the lessons learned. Sagittarius season, however, reminds us that we can move forward with truth and integrity to be the best version of ourselves. The Temperance card reminds us that we are the alchemists of our own lives. We decide what brings us joy and passion in our lives. The lesson here is not to go to extremes; the middle of the path is the best route.
