On August 8, 2016, I took in Andrew and Makayla to be my foster children. The has been one of the most boldest and craziest (yet wisest thing) I have every done. There is a new movie about a rural black church that decided to take in all of the foster kids in their community. I imagine it was one of the boldest, crazy, yet wisest thing this little rural church ever did as well to support their community and serve the needs of the most vulnerable! Check it out if you want to be inspired. But beware, it may change you forever!

Trauma-Informed Care: Handling the Meltdown with Empathy by Dr. David Adams

Traditional disciplinary practices are not always effective for children with trauma histories. The field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and interpersonal neurobiology can help provide some tools for us to learn how to respond to meltdowns, especially for children with trauma histories. He specializes in working with individuals with depression and anxiety as well as general life issues. He also specializes in Christian-based counseling.
