Dr. Dana S. Iyer, Phd

Dr. Dana S. Iyer, Phd I have been in private practice for 10 years. By changing the way we look at things we can change the way we feel.

I work with a variety of "dis-eases" but specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, including Family Based Therapy (formerly known as Maudsley) for eating disorders. "Things are neither good nor bad but our thinking makes them so." - Hamlet
Our thoughts and attitudes determine how we perceive the world. The difficulties we experience in life result not simply from the difficulties themselves but in how we experience them.

I have written a new post titled, 'After the Happily Ever After’.

We know falling in love is easier than staying in love, but few of us understand how to change that. This post outlines my work with a couple on the brink of calling it quits, feeling there is no tunnel, they wonder how can they see the light? Using principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy this post examines where we go wrong in love and how to begin to fix it.

It is only in entering our darkness that we face ourselves, our demons, and find what has been with us all along, the key…

There are no words to describe how racism feels. Everyone deals with it differently. Some people lash out verbally, others withdraw into themselves. How many of our children are trying to learn in racist classrooms? How does a child reach their full potential...when they are given messages every day that they are worthless human beings? What if it was your son or daughter? What would you do? - Mark Williams, 1999

It’s crazy how you always end up where you’re meant to be – how even the most tragic and stressful situations eventually teach you important lessons that you never dreamed you were going to learn. Remember, oftentimes when things are falling apart, they are actually falling into place.
