Are we normalizing structural breakdown and burnout in teenage athletes? 🚩

Year-round travel seasons. College recruiting pressure at 15. Playing through dead arm or knee pain because they don't want to lose their starting spot.

The modern sports pipeline demands professional-level output from high school bodies and minds. But when an athlete starts breaking down, the industry’s answer is usually: Push through it, or Do some generic agility drills.

Adding heavy squats and sprints to an already exhausted, mechanically compromised nervous system isn't making her better. It’s creating a ticking time bomb for an ACL or labrum tear.

At Head 2 Toe Strength, we do not guess with your athlete's chassis, and we do not ignore her mental health.

Growing up in SoCal fastpitch, I lived for those game weekends. But I also remember the burnout, the sore shoulders, and the playing through pain that we all just accepted as part of the game.

Now, as a performance coach, I’m building the program I wish we had back then.

I’m looking for 5-10 local athletes (teen & college age) to join my Summer Off-Season Pilot. We aren't just working out, we’re building:

The best shop talk happens at the stadium. ⚾️🔥

Huge thanks to the crew for the invite to the game.

In the clinic, we talk about biomechanics and nervous system regulation. At the stadium, we get to see it in real time. There’s nothing like watching elite athletes perform at their peak to remind us why we build the floor first.

The most dangerous phrase in recovery is “You’re cleared.”

Being "cleared" by a doctor or PT is a clinical milestone, but it isn't a performance green light.

Most athletes get stuck in the noise between rehab and the barbell. They’re told they are healthy, but their body still feels like it’s screaming "Stop."

That’s because standard protocols look at healing. I look at management. If you’ve been cleared for the gym but your body isn’t ready for the noise, we don’t stop the movement, we fix the biomechanics. Whether it's a silent Glute Medius or a "Check Engine Light" in your knee, we find the baseline that the system missed.

This is Performance Without Harm.

Burnout doesn't always look like a breakdown. For most high-performing women, it just looks like autopilot.

You assume you aren't "burned out" because you are still getting things done. You're still showing up to work, still hitting the gym, still managing the house.

But your nervous system tells a different story.

In my clinical strength practice, burnout rarely looks like someone completely stopping. Instead, it shows up as:
▪️ Numbness to things you used to actually enjoy
▪️ Chronic irritability and zero patience
▪️ Feeling completely disconnected from your own body
▪️ A persistent sense of just "surviving" the week
