Meet Crystal Tran our current Physician Assistant here at Alta Dermatology! Crystal graduated from Idaho State University with a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from University of California, Santa Barbara. Allison our lovely PA uses Elta Physical every day on her face because of its gentle mineral formulation that protects her skin without exacerbating her skin allergies or rosacea. It also checked all the boxes that we recommend in sunscreens with a SPF 41 and has zinc oxide as the active ingredient! ✅⁣
⁣
What should I look for when looking for a sunscreen? 🧴⁣
⁣
Here at Alta Dermatology, we like to keep things simple. We recommend that your sunscreen be at least SPF 30 and have zinc oxide as the active ingredient. Sunscreens containing zinc oxide are known as “physical blockers” which are more stable in the sun, more water resistant and protect by sitting on top of the skin rather than absorbing into the skin as the chemical sunscreens do. Additional considerations when choosing a sunscreen may include particular skin conditions you might have including skin allergies, rosacea, acne or oily skin. No two people’s skin are alike, so ideally you would find a sunscreen best suited to your particular skin care needs. Ask your provider which formula is right for you! ⁣
