Hello all – this is Diane Cranley, TAALK’s Founder, here to share an official announcement about TAALK. We have ceased TAALK’s operation as a non-profit effective August 31st.

We have served tens of thousands of people since our inception in 2007 and we appreciate all of our supporters who have allowed us to bring safety, hope, and healing to so many people. We couldn’t have done it without you. But that chapter has ended, and a new chapter begins.

I have purchased the rights to TAALK’s name and logo and will continue to carry TAALK’s mission forward - to prevent childhood s*xual abuse and support those impacted.

I am in the process of updating the TAALK website to include an interactive online community. The TAALK Community is being created to empower families and organizations to prevent childhood s*xual abuse and prepare surrounding community members to appropriately support those impacted. It will be a place for us to come together regarding all aspects of this pandemic – to connect, learn, share, encourage, and support one another in our efforts to create safer and healthier communities for children as well as adults who have been impacted. I hope you will join our online community when it becomes available.

In the meantime, I just want to say that it has been an honor to serve you over the past 14 years and I look forward to continuing to do so in a new way for many years to come.

And yet another example of systemic problems in the fight to protect our children - We paying teachers who have been inappropriate with our children to leave their jobs! We must create formal boundary policies that provide school districts the right to terminate employment without benefits when the policy is broken. We are making progress in California with more and more districts putting these policies in place but it takes consistent and long term pressure to create cultural change. Do the schools in your state have formal boundary policies that protect children from s*xual abuse?

Douglas Mason resigned after an Aug. 30 board meeting, ending a two-decade record of inappropriate conduct aimed at female colleagues and later female students. Mason, who had been on leave since January, walks away with $80,000.

Despite our many efforts to prevent abuse, we cannot stop every case. We can, however, continue to set behavioral boundaries and look for systemic issues that allow abuse to continue. This article highlights that schools are still signing non-disclosure agreements with teachers who resign after abuse allegations, as well as a lag in the investigation and notification turnaround for teachers reported to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. These processes must be fixed!!!

Hats off to Olivia Munn for speaking up and standing her ground. This story is not only pertinent to the fight against s*xual exploitation but Munn's mom has good advice for life. This paragraph of this story sums it up...Munn posted a series of tweets on September 6. In the first tweet, she wrote, "My mom taught me to stand up & say 'That’s not okay' Even if you find yourself standing alone, speak up. Even if people get mad at you, speak up. It’s not our job to stay silent so that others can stay comfortable. Use your voice to shape the world or others will shape it for us." She included an image of text that reads, "Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it. Right is right, even if no one is doing it."

California's legislature passed two bills this week that would ban employers from taking a number of steps that activists inspired by the movement say help employers hide instances of s*xual abuse.

Two BRAVE Workshops will be held at the Orange County Department of Education, K-2nd grade from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and 3rd-5th grade from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

A BRAVE Workshop is a 90-minute, age-appropriate, interactive session that includes verbal and physical skills to defend against s*xual abuse, violence, and abduction. The goal is to reduce the risk of childhood victimization by providing knowledge and skills about personal safety, and to empower students to make, brave, safe, and healthy choices. Parental attendance strongly encouraged to help reinforce what students learn.

Another sad story about a coach who allegedly knew the team doctor was s*xually abusing atheletes. We need to not only hold perpetrators accountable for their actions, but also the bystanders who do not intercede to protect children. We will have to see what details come to light in the investigation. My heart goes out to these kids who were not protected!

A fourth former Ohio State University wrestler came forward Thursday to contradict Rep. Jim Jordan’s claim that he had no idea the wrestling team doctor was molesting athletes.

Let this story be a reminder that we must stay focused on inappropriate behaviors indicative of child molesters, rather than on the person. Child molesters are often the most well respected members of their community because they have practiced a lifetime of image management which often leads bystanders to look the other way. Pay attention and if you see something, say something!

The accused, Joel Davis, 22, gained fame with his campaign against “war zone rape” after a global summit meeting. He now faces federal charges.

I raised my girls as a single mother and it was both difficult and incredibly precious. I wanted to take a moment and acknowledge all the single moms who did their best in the midst of struggle. Your children may be too young to thank you or just haven't yet realized the fortitude it took - so on their behalf, thank you! May you have a blessed Father's Day!

On Father's Day, I am choosing to honor all of the single mothers out there. There are many single-parent households in the US and a lot of them are just mothers. Here's why I'm using Father's Day as another Mother's Day for my single mom.

Another story that breaks my heart - please, please, please do not put the need for success and achievement above the protecting of our children. This is another area where child molesters will want to hide - behind a role that parents and children alike depend on to make their dreams come true. I am so sorry for what these kids have been through. My heart is with you and I'm so proud of you for speaking up - again for some of you.

Terrific news that the movie "Show Dogs" has been pulled from theaters until the inappropriate parts are edited out. Thanks to all of the parents and advocates who rose up to voice their concerns!

A Hollywood film distributor is pulling the family film "Show Dogs" from theaters after some parents complained about scenes involving the inspection of a dog's private parts.

First let me say that I have not seen this movie but one of our followers just shared this link with me and if the movie is what the author depicts, I am appalled. I disagree with her statement that this is grooming, this depiction is s*xual assault!!! Please parents preview the movie without your kids first.

The Show Dogs movie contains a dark theme that can send kids a very very harmful message about who is allowed to touch their private parts and when.
