Addressing both the painful and tense fascia and hypersensitive nervous system is equally important in the treatment of fibromyalgia. Treating painful and tense fascia can be achieved by osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT), a combination of gentle stretching and pressure on the muscles and joints, a service which Back On Track Bodywork offers. There are also several ways you can treat your own fascia. Teaching self-care tricks are a huge emphasis in Back On Track Bodywork clinic’s treatment program.

A video worth watching on shoulder pain. In fact what's being discussed in this video also applies to other areas of pain ie low back pain, knee pain etc. There is not always a direct correlation between what's found on imaging (MRI, X-ray, ultrasound) and the patient's presenting symptoms. What I mean by that is that sometimes incidental findings (ie rotator cuff tear, meniscal tear, disc bulge) can be found on imaging and there are no symptoms! In other instances a patient has some symptoms but the imaging does not = the type of symptoms they're presenting with. What Im trying to explain is that its so easy to jump to the conclusion that what's found on imaging is the culprit of the presenting symptoms. But this is not always the case, so be aware!
So before you jump to have surgery you should find out how well the symptoms = / correlate with the imaging. Or at least have conservative treatment first such as manual therapy and exercise. Then at least if you get better that way you don't need to recover from surgery.
