Please share this with any pregnant kanaka folks you know, planning any kind of birth- hospital, home, freebirth- I have heard nothing but good glowing raving reviews from all of the families that have taken this class. The information shared is more than just the mechanics of labor and how to get through ctx- I mean that’s in there too but there is so much more, that you won’t find any where else on Maui. And it’s free. AND it’s taught by our fave…. Leilani!! (shameless leilani appreciation post to follow) 😜😘😘😘Seriously yall Leilani is such a natural teacher- I ride with her all the time just so I can listen to her talk as much as possible!! I am always learning a dozen new things from her everytime we holoholo -Hawaiian history, mo’olelo, herbs, birth stuff, land rights, water rights, life stuff, mom stuff, decolonization stuff, star stuff…. The list goes on. She has easily become one of my top favorite teachers and midwives. Don’t miss a chance to enrich your pregnancy and birth with this class. Huge thank you to and for everything they do for the lahui , and to lahui for everything they do for the rest of us guests here in the kingdom of Hawaii.

Learning is sacred AF. Got some new pelvic models (not pictured here because I’m not trying to get banned) for teaching paps, cervical exams, IUD placement, assisted reproduction, catheter, suturing, etc, and I’m making them some little prayer bags out of respect. We all want to treat our clients and patients with the highest respect and kindness. Call me silly but I really think that respect starts all the way in the beginning, with our models and tools. Of course bodies are funny weird and gross and every skills day has its share of laughter and humor, but treating these models with crude humor and callous handling just sits wrong with me in my guts. I’m ok if you think I’m silly, I’m also not out here trying to be haunted by some disrespected silicone booties and babies. NAH. 🤪🤣👻🫠 💕
