🌿 Nuchal Cord Facts
🟢 1. Nuchal cords are extremely common
Occur in 20–30% of all births

That’s 1 in 4 babies

Most are loose and cause no problems

🟢 2. They are usually not dangerous
A nuchal cord is simply the cord around the baby’s neck.
Because of Wharton’s jelly and the cord’s structure, blood flow is usually well‑protected.

🟢 3. They rarely cause emergencies
A nuchal cord becomes concerning only if it causes:

significant cord compression

repetitive variable decelerations

signs of fetal distress

This is uncommon.

🟢 4. They are not a reason for induction or cesarean
Evidence shows:

Nuchal cords are not linked to stillbirth in healthy pregnancies

They are not an indication for early delivery

They are not a reason for automatic C‑section

🟢 5. Providers manage them easily at birth
Most of the time:

The cord is slipped over the baby’s head

Or the somersault maneuver is used
Both are simple, routine techniques.

🟢 6. Multiple loops are still often harmless
Even 2–3 loops can be normal.
What matters is tension, not the number of loops.

-For months, this was your baby’s home, their nourishment, their connection to you.

The placenta is often overlooked, but it is sacred in so many ways—a quiet worker that made life possible.

However you choose to honor it after birth, take a moment to appreciate what your body created—there is so much beauty in that.

The placenta plays a vital role in supporting your baby, and many families choose to continue benefiting from it after birth through encapsulation and other services.

If you’re curious about your options or want to learn more, I’d love to walk alongside you in that decision. 🤍

A doula is not someone you call when labor starts and hope for the best.

We are not a last-minute rescue.
We are not a savior rushing in to “fix” birth.

A doula is someone you build a relationship with months before you ever feel a contraction.

When you hire a doula early, the real work begins long before labor. We walk beside you as you learn, question, process, and prepare. We help you understand your body, your options, and your voice, so by the time birth arrives, you’re not looking to someone else to save you. You already know you can do this.

We don’t just attend a birth.
We help shape the experience you walk into it with.

We:
~Educate you on the physiology of labor so fear doesn’t run the show
~Help you understand common interventions, your choices, and your rights
~Talk through what-ifs so nothing feels shocking or overwhelming
~Help you build a birth plan that’s flexible, realistic, and truly yours
~Teach your partner how to support you with confidence — not panic
~Normalize what labor looks and feels like so you don’t doubt yourself
~Help you practice positions, comfort measures, breathing, and coping tools
~Prepare you mentally and emotionally, not just physically
~Hold space for your fears, questions, and past experiences
~Remind you again and again that your body is not broken

By the time labor begins, we aren’t strangers walking into your birth.

We are a familiar, grounding presence.
We already know your preferences, your triggers, your goals, your strength.

And during labor?
We remind you:
~You are informed
~You are capable
~You are allowed to ask questions
~You are allowed to pause
~You are allowed to change your mind
~You are in control of your birth choices

Hiring a doula early isn’t about having backup.
It’s about walking into birth confident instead of afraid.
Prepared instead of unsure.
Supported instead of alone.

If you want to feel calm, grounded, educated, and powerful when labor begins, don’t wait until the last minute.

This work starts long before labor does.
And it changes everything.

Dear doula,

We see you...

on those late night drives back home when your heart is pounding and you are so filled to the brim with adrenaline due to proxy-oxytocin you feel like you’ll burst.

Dear doula,

We see you...

when your plans are changed last minute again because babies don’t have calendars, and you miss yet another family dinner because you love to selflessly serve pregnant mamas.

Dear doula,

We see you...

as you wake up in the morning completely sore from 18-hours straight of hip squeezes and counter pressure because you would do anything to make her laboring easier.

Dear doula,

We see you...

while you cry in the shower trying to process when trauma and heartbreak happen and you had a front row seat but couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Dear doula,

We see you...

and we applaud you. Your servant’s heart and selfless devotion do not go unnoticed, and as long as we are around we will be giving you the recognition you deserve!

So, thank you.

You are making a difference, and you are seen!

✨ When the impossible meets the possible ✨

They said it couldn’t be done.
They said it was too risky, too rare, too much.
But birth doesn’t read the textbooks.

A baby who should have turned,
didn’t. A face, not a crown, pressed into the world first.
Brow furrowed, lips parted, eyes wide with the fire of arrival.

And still, the body knew.
Still, the mother opened.
Still, the earth tilted in awe as a child entered
face to the sky, staring down the odds, proving once again that birth writes its own story.

This is not just anatomy.
This is poetry in motion.
This is the raw brilliance of physiology, the audacity of a mother’s power, and the miracle of a baby who said,
“I will come through anyway.”

🍩dílαtíσn αnd єffαcєmєnt σf thє cєrvíх🍩

The cervix is the lowermost part of the uterus, where it connects with the va**nal wall. It is located 3 to 6 inches inside the va**na, at the end of the va**nal tunnel.

The cervix is shaped like a small donut with a tiny hole in the center. During labor the tiny hole starts to open and the walls start to thin out.

The opening of the tiny hole in your cervix is called dilation.

The thinning of the cervix is called effacement.

Each contraction works to dilate and thin the cervix. Although dilation and effacement can start to happen before being in active labor.

For birth, your cervix will reach 10cm dilation(or until it’s open enough for your baby’s head to pass through) and the effacement reaches 100%. Your cervix also has to move from the posterior position(facing your a**s) to moving into an anterior position(facing the va**nal opening).

This photograph is of a REAL cervix that has begun to dilate. You can see the baby’s amniotic sac.

The cervix dilation during labor is commonly as follows:
* Latent Phase: 0-3 centimeters
* Active Labor: 4-7 centimeters
* Transition: 8-10 centimeters
* Fully Dilated: 10 centimeters; shortly after this stage the baby is born.

Some bodies don’t abide by these numbers and that’s a variation of normal as well!

🌿😌SPHINCTER'S LAW😌🌿

"Can You 💩 In Front Of Them?"

Did you know? If someone comes in the room 👀 that doesn’t make mama the most comfortable, it can actually halt labor. Dr. Ina May coined the “Sphincter Law” term. She has seen (and so have I) almost fully dilated cervixes close when the wrong person/people entered the room.

Labor is not much different than s*x or bowel movements. It requires a safe space for mama to work through the physical and emotional requirements to perform an instinctual feat.

Labor isn’t a show for family members. Family can be well meaning, but that still doesn’t mean they need to be present.

Now go look up "Sphincter's law" mamas. 😊
