Meghan, our Heart of Hospice Volunteer Manager, had the pleasure of participating in today’s Health & Wellness Fair hosted by The Verandah Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. It was a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with local vendors and learn more about the valuable services available in our community. We’re grateful to be part of such an impactful event focused on education and well-being.

💜WHAT’S YOUR WHY 💜

I’ve worked in hospice for over 6 years, helping families navigate one of life’s hardest journeys. But last year, hospice became personal.

My sister Kim was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. When all treatment options had been exhausted and the tumor continued to grow, I stepped in to advocate for her. I helped get her admitted to hospice, educated my family on the care and support available, and guided them through the difficult conversations that come with this transition.
I’ll never forget the peace and dignity hospice brought to Kim and the strength it gave my family. We would have never been able to navigate that journey without the compassion and support of the hospice team.

I’ve been blessed to work in hospice, helping patients and families navigate this same journey. This is more than a career for me, it’s a calling. My goal is to make sure no one walks this path alone.

The Heart of Hospice team had such a great time volunteering at the Bean Bag Baseball Tournament for our local senior centers, sponsored by The Verandah Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. From keeping score to serving refreshments and cheering on every player, our team was proud to be part of such a fun and uplifting event. We’re always honored to support activities that bring joy to our community.

🐾 Happy National Dog Month🐾

At Heart of Hospice, we know the incredible comfort and joy that dogs can bring, not only to our patients, but to our team as well. Whether they’re companion dogs providing comfort to our patients or our own furry friends at home, dogs have a special way of making life just a little bit brighter.

This month, we celebrate the four-legged friends who bring love and laughter to some of our team in the most loyal way.

What a week it’s been!
Our Heart of Hospice team has been out in the community, sharing special moments and making memories with some incredible seniors. From an Empowerment Luncheon at Rosewood Nursing Center, to Region 7’s Annual Senior Citizen Bingo, and a festive Luau put on by Calcasieu Community Care Center. Each event reminded us of the joy that comes from connection and compassion.

We’re so grateful for these opportunities to show up, support, and celebrate the people we’re honored to serve.
