The Vein Center of Southwest Louisiana The Vein Center of Southwest LA provides state of the art non-surgical outpatient treatment options for varicose veins and venous insufficiency or reflux.

The Vein Center of Southwest Louisiana, in Lake Charles, is under the medical direction of Dr. Carl Fastabend. Dr. Fastabend earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, he has practiced Interventional Cardiology in Southwest Louisiana for the past 37 years. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, and is a member of the American College of Phlebology and Lymphatic Medicine. He has also earned special recognition in ultrasound through a Registered Vascular Physician Interpretation certification. In 2011, Dr. Fastabend established the Vein Center of Southwest Louisiana and began a comprehensive practice in venous disease, with the goal of providing state-of-the-art care. He has participated in important clinical research projects and has been an expert speaker at major venous symposia. He is focused on all aspects of venous disease, and is recognized for expertise in the area of stenting large veins in the body for venous compression or obstruction. Dr. Fastabend has hosted many vein specialists who have traveled to Lake Charles to observe his venous stent procedures first-hand, and is a regular speaker at training sessions around the country for physicians interested in learning about vein disease and modern treatment modalities.

After 44 years in practice in Southwest Louisiana, Dr. Carl Fastabend is relocating to Houston, Texas, effective October 1, 2023. He will be affiliated with the Texas Vein & Wellness Institute, where he will continue to be available for venous care.

The cardiologists with Imperial Health Cardiovascular Specialists are committed to providing any needed follow-up care or referrals for his patients. The group has offices in Lake Charles, Sulphur, Jennings, Kinder, DeRidder, DeQuincy and Grand Lake. Their office number is 337-436-3813.

It has been Dr. Fastabend's honor to provide care for his patients, and he sincerely appreciates the trust placed in him.
