It can be challenging to to make decisions in the moment during labor. The best time to make them is before they happen. This is when research, your support partner, and birth plans become your best friend.

In the event that a health provider offers a medical intervention ask yourself “Does the risk out way the benefit of the intervention?” “Is it necessary at the moment or can it wait?”

Should you be unable to respond coherently during the unexpected in labor ensure that you and your support partner have discussed your birth plan and what to do in case of unexpected.
