Clayton Burnett, DC - Lake Charles Chiropractor

Clayton Burnett, DC - Lake Charles Chiropractor Instagram: .claytonburnett Dr. Burnett grew up in Rayne, Louisiana. Being a lifelong athlete, he has had his fair share of bumps and bruises.

However, his interest in the medical field came after being involved in a major, life-threatening accident. His sincere thankfulness for the entire medical staff that helped to save his life and relieve him of severe pain is what motivated him to gain the ability to bring that amount of relief to others. In 2011, Dr. Burnett became a nationally registered emergency medical technician. He then completed most of his undergraduate degree at McNeese State University where he majored in Biology and Chemistry, as well as conducting original biochemical research. He later enrolled at Texas Chiropractic College in Houston, Texas. While at TCC, Dr. Burnett was a notable student being selected to the Omega Psi Honor Society and the TCC Ambassador Mentor Program. During his internship at Moody Health Center, Dr. Burnett served as a clinical teaching assistant and chief intern. He treated a wide variety of patients including athletes at Rice University, US Olympians, and international students at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Dr. Burnett also volunteered his time to treat patients at a women’s and children’s shelter in Pasadena, Texas. In 2016, he graduated with honors from TCC as valedictorian of his class, earning a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. Dr. Burnett primarily uses Diversified Technique but has additional training in functional taping, Activator technique™, instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation, myofascial release therapy, and exercise therapy with plans to add more certifications in the future. "Specifically, they’ve shown that holding static positions for 10 to 30 seconds at a time — which is known as isometric exercise — can help people recover completely from tendon and ligament injuries, which was previously thought to be impossible."

Each year, more money is spent in the U.S. on musculoskeletal pain than on heart disease and diabetes combined. Exercise physiologist Keith Baar, a professor of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and Physiology and Membrane Biology, is working to change that.

Highlights:

NFL athletes who participated in multiple sports during high school sustained significantly fewer total and major injuries per 1000 snaps than single‐sport athletes.

Multisport athletes demonstrated greater career durability, including more games played, longer careers, higher snap counts, and greater weighted career approximate values.

Injury and durability advantages of multisport participation were most pronounced in speed‐ and agility‐dependent positions, including running backs, wide receivers, defensive backs, and linebackers.

These findings support youth sport diversification and suggest that early football specialization is not required for elite performance or career longevity.

Early sport specialization during adolescence has been linked to overuse injuries in several sports, yet its long‐term impact in American football remains underexplored. The purpose of this study is to examine whether early specialization in ...
