Bio:

AJ Floor is a dedicated Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) based in Lake Charles, Louisiana. With a strong commitment to mental health and well-being, AJ provides compassionate and effective counseling services to individuals ages 16 and up. Her approach is client-centered, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

AJ earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from McNeese and is currently working towards full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Her clinical interests include: trauma, anxiety and depression, college students, life transitions and adjustments, and the LGBTQIA+ community. She is passionate about helping her clients develop coping strategies, improve their emotional resilience, and achieve their personal goals.

Outside the office, AJ likes to read, color, do puzzles, and write short stories. She enjoys exploring new research in the mental health field and collaborating with other disciplines to improve access to effective treatment.

🎉 Cheers to 20 YEARS!!! 🎉

Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone at New Horizons Counseling Center! 20 years ago, today, Dr. Brenda Roberts opened the doors to this wonderful business and today we got to celebrate this milestone.

For two decades, Dr. Brenda Roberts has been dedicated to providing compassionate and professional counseling services to the Lake Charles community and most of SWLA!

Since December 2023, Cecilia Duplechan has taken the helm as the new owner, continuing the legacy of excellence and care.

Along with Dr. Roberts and Cecilia, New Horizons has an amazing group of dedicated Mental Health counselors, nurse practitioners, and admin staff that have been a MAJOR part of keeping the business running smoothly over the last 20 years!

Thank you to all our clients, friends, and supporters who have been part of this incredible journey. Here's to many more years of growth, healing, and making a positive impact!

Stacy McGee-Wheat is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) at New Horizons Counseling Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Since joining the center in July 2024, Stacy has been dedicated to providing high-quality mental health care to her clients.

Stacy holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatry, as well as a Master of Arts in Education from McNeese State University. Her extensive education and training enable her to offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy.

At New Horizons Counseling Center, Stacy specializes in treating a variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and more. She is committed to creating a supportive and empathetic environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their mental health concerns.

Stacy is passionate about mental health advocacy and strives to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

Meet our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Cecilia Duplechan.

Cecilia received her undergraduate degree from McNeese State University in 2010. In 2018, after working for several years as a Registered Nurse, Cecilia decided to return to McNeese State University to pursue her Master's Degree in Nursing. In 2021 Cecilia successfully completed the graduate program and became a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Cecilia has been a member of New Horizons since 2021.

Cecilia is now accepting new clients and is here to provide compassionate and expert care.
